Crazy Horses anyone?

Post by DD »

Just wanted to say I am mighty impressed with my newly aquired X6 and also this forum....its bril'

My previous board was a Juno D, and one day when fooling around with the parameters within a guitar patch I ended up with the electric horse sound from "Crazy Horses" by the Osmonds totally by accident.
......to cut a long story short I played the sound back to the rest of the guys in the band and what started as a bit of a joke, turned into one of the most popular numbers our band plays!

Anyway now I have my Fantom I want to produce the Crazy Horse sound again.

I am not being lazy here, have so much to read and try out on the Fantom (I also purchased the Mega pack from Artemio, and am busily trying to get to grips with all the Fantom can do!)

The sound I mean is at the intro to the song and then in the chorus ( I previously used a dist guitar with lots of mod and Wah Wah, and the pitch mod lever up an octave for the start, and then back down slowly for the chorus, but now can't seem to get anything like it with the Fantom!!)

I was kinda hoping I would find something similar I could tweak to no avail

Can anyone give me any pointers.. or where to start? I would like to take my time but keep getting distracted by what the Fantom can do! ....have to get the Crazy Horses sound soon or the band will disown me!

Ideas anyone?

Don't know how much of a beginner you are, but have you learned to use the patch finder for stepping through all patches of a particular type?

If not, check it out and step through the Distorted Guitar sounds, sampling each until you hit on the sound you're looking for. If you find something close, perhaps you can tweak it a little to your liking?

Cheers Matey, I'll try that
.....just wondered if anyone knew of of a patch that was similar or if they knew a quick way how to get the sound ( what wave, rate, effects depth, mod etc...)
I think I was lucky to stumble across a sound when tweaking my Juno D.

It looks like I am gonna have to do some major tweaking,
