Importing songs into Fantom from XP-80

Post by Sloane »

Greetings,

I am able to bring in songs from the XP-80 into the Fantom (midi-out to midi in of Fantom, Fantom is slave, hit record on Fantom, play on XP-80 -- thank you Artemio) but it's been a hassle getting the downbeat to match up. The timing is always off. What can I do about this?

Thank you!

You can transfer as MIDI data..But you need to re assign the instruments..again on fantom

Also note that if you had bounced the tracks on your original sequence in XP 80, it may not be possible to bring it to fantom ??

Confused...

Ven Kiee,

Thanks for the reply. I'm not already transferring it as MIDI data? (midi-out to midi in of Fantom, Fantom is slave, hit record on Fantom, play on XP-80 -- thank you Artemio).

Hmmm... I thought bringing it in via the MIDI cables does that...
Okay, so how do I go about doing that? What are the settings?

Just to be EXTRA CLEAR, I'm bringing it in, it simply is NOT starting on the downbeat of the measure, like the original song on the XP-80 does.

And BTW, there are no bounced tracks.

Thanks!

the master needs to be the fantom. but they have to have 2 cables hooked up. so, in and out on both the XP and the Fan. but you would hit play and record on the fantom and it will play the song on the XP while recording the midi data on the fantom.

i'm just speaking out of logic, i have never done this personally, just how i see it working.

Just save your Xp sequences as midi files (.mid) and the Fx will read it. You will have to re-assign your patches.

let the music be with you!!!
