Backing up songs/samples

Post by Riche »

What is the easiest way to save songs and samples, the memory on my X6 is now full - If hook it up to my laptop via USB can I "reloaad" tparticular songs back in to the fantom later on. Purchase a PC Card or is it easiest just to buy some chips and expand the memory?

Generally,

Saving songs: Hit the 'Write' button and select songs and/or samples.

Yes, you can "reload" them easily later on:

Place your Midi in USB mode (Edit > USB (button))

You should see your laptop (USB connected) open up your X6 User and Card directories ... to observe your 2 Roland and Temp directories and sub dirs: smp, pic, etc. that are in each.

Copy your bloated files (*.sqv) to a laptop directory.

Still you need to buy both a 1GB flash card (and install it AT your LOCAL office store)

... and buy 512MB SDR DIMM for "User memory" via the WWW (since your local office store probably won't have it).

'Hope this helps
