XV Patch Library
XV Patch Library
Thanks to artemio for including the link in the newsletter to the XV patch library for the FS that Roland have made available at
PC: ftp://ftp.roland.co.jp/pub/roland/japan ... V_Data.EXE
Mac: ftp://ftp.roland.co.jp/pub/roland/japan ... ta.sit.hqx
This is a truely excellent bank of patches that includes many JV/XV old favourites
The instructions are in Japanese unfortunately, but it is straightforward using the Librarian.
Open Librarian
Open the patch file
Copy the patches from the patch file window into the main window
Put the FS in Librarian mode
Write all or selected to the FS.

Re: XV Patch Library
What? ..as in, all the Patches found on the XV-5080?
For example, are there patches called "Helium Queen", "Film Octaves", "Temple of JV" or "Running Blade"?

Re: XV Patch Library
I am surprised no one else is raving about this yet.
Lots of people moaning about the lack of support from Roland, and when Roland do something stunning like this... no comments?

Re: XV Patch Library
Damn! It makes you wish you had more than 256 User slots just so you can have them all loaded up without resorting to SM Cards!
That's *really* exciting news. I can't wait to play with these later!
Major Kudos to Roland!!!!

Re: XV Patch Library
This is way cool! The F-S just got even better.
I am too busy to play with this right now and will ask rather than try at the expense of looking like a bigger idiot around here than I already do. Is there a way to load these XV patches only using a SmartMedia Card and not having to use the USB connection and if so please explain how if you know? I think it is possible and I have a pretty good idea how to do it but after reading in the newsletter and then again here how to load them up I am a little concerned that a direct USB connection might be needed to load these XV patches.
Wow, I am blown away that Roland is finally doing some thing to better the F-S. This is huge!
This has got to be the nicest community on the net. Thanks, Artemio!

Re: XV Patch Library
You load them using the FS Librarian software on the PC or MAC which just uses a standard MIDI connection.
See my first post.

Re: XV Patch Library
Translation of roland Japan page for the XV Patch (my translation of babelfish's translation
)
This patch reproduces the patch of JV and the XP series with Fantom-S/S88. Using this patch makes it convenient to recreate the sounds of the past using the Fantom-S.
* The built in wave ROM of Fantom-S differs from the former product. Because of that, it does not completely reproduces the same sound.
* Because the XV-2020 and Fantom patch data differs there is no compatibility.
There are 1024 patches in this data which expands the sound variation of Fantom-S. For example, there are 28 additional patches just in the piano category.

Duh! That was a brain fart on my part. That’s right, the Librarian is MIDI and I am covered there. Thanks!

Re: XV Patch Library
OK, so I could not resist any longer and I took a break from working and loaded up many of these patches and gave them a try. WOW! I am blown away. They definitely have a Fantom-S slant to them, as they should of course, but they are really, really good. This right here makes me very, very happy.
