hello everyone,
i’m new here. i recently got a 101 and i’ve been absolutely blown away by how capable it is. i was expecting it to be a good piece of kit, that’s why i bought it but i really got more than i bargained for.
i’ve been using it extensively for several weeks and have put together a wishlist of features i would like to see implemented.
i would like to ask you all your opinions and see if you like any of these features as well. i also apologize if any of these have been previously mentioned.
here’s my list so far. it’s NOT in order of priority or importance.
1. ability to copy pads to other pads and let them be new copies and not just linked duplicates
2. drum track mute lock
3. track mutes + mute lock
4. recording count-in (maybe by pressing “Record + Play”
5. ability to copy and paste sequencer events between pads
6. ability to copy and paste sequencer pages
7. ability to copy and paste multiple sequencer events
8. ability to copy tracks to other tracks
9. option to select multiple pads for simultaneous editing
10. scene chain
11. ability to switch between Vendor/Generic drivers without reboot
12. ability to enter Storage Mode without reboot
13. ability to sample directly to pads in a drum track
14. ability to export audio to SD card
15. ability to have an autoload project with preconfigured project settings
16. mute probability for Tone track events
17. undo/redo function
18. ability to truncate samples
19. when using the “Sequence Duplicate/Half” shortcut, have the device stay in the Mode in which it’s used. For example, if I duplicate a sequence while in Note mode, it automatically switches to Sequence mode. It would be great if it stayed in Note mode and vice versa for other modes.
20. when loading samples from the SD card, both pad effect sends are automatically set to “127”. It would be great if they were set to “0” upon loading.
21. the ability to see how much battery time is remaining or battery percentage
22. ability to name samples
23. When in a drum track, using “Pad + Track Number” to successively lower velocity: one press = 80, two presses = 60, three presses = 40, four presses = 20.
24. ability to have a probability option along with mute probability in the sequencer
25. more key combination shortcuts
26. ability to Save current project while sequencer is running
Here’s a super short list of extra features that would absolutely blow my mind.
1. more sample loop modes, e.g., reverse loop, alternating loop
2. side chain compressor
Roland MC-101 Wishlist
Re: Roland MC-101 Wishlist
What i realy miss is the ability to load more than one sample on a tone track to split on the keyboard.
Re: Roland MC-101 Wishlist
i would live to add "flashless mode" in system settings where the constant blinking that goes on with this device ( although useful) can be disabled. blinking gear for me is a huge distraction, and turns me off to buy stuff .
cheers!
cheers!
Re: Roland MC-101 Wishlist
What is frustrating to me, is no to have a quick access to tone setting. If I want to play with the filter cutoff/resonance of one tone, it's not easily double, I always have to switch between the setting of the knob, this is terrible for live performance. Would be great if when we are in NOTE(/SEQ) mode, meaning anyway that we are focusing on editing one track, that the 4 knob controls are dedicate to the selected track, therefor we could change cutoff and resonance at the same time for this given track.
If we are on CLIP, each knob is assigned to a track (like it is now), to be able to change filter for multiple track as the same time (as it is a very great feature). However, it would still be great to assign the purpose of the knob in a quicker way than pressing long the sound/filter/mod/fx + turning value, maybe in addition, long press sound/filter/mod/fx + one of the 16 pad to assign favorite feature... For example longpress + pad1 = resonance, longpress + pad2 = cutoff...

I can't understand from your post if you know that you can already assign all knobs to apply to one track only.alexStar wrote: ↑19:05, 20 August 2022 What is frustrating to me, is no to have a quick access to tone setting. You can do that from system menu if I remember correctly or by pressing together all buttons(SOUND-FILTER-MOD-FX) at the same time.
Re: Roland MC-101 Wishlist
Very much agree but I we definately need copy that use the same sample loaded in RAM with just different attributestrackedchanges wrote: ↑11:26, 6 March 2021 1. ability to copy pads to other pads and let them be new copies and not just linked duplicates
It's already there in the settings
I wish too but infortunately it would be an elektron machine if it had those features, not ROLAND.trackedchanges wrote: ↑11:26, 6 March 2021 5. ability to copy and paste sequencer events between pads
6. ability to copy and paste sequencer pages
7. ability to copy and paste multiple sequencer events
8. ability to copy tracks to other tracks
9. option to select multiple pads for simultaneous editing
You can export looper clips
These 2 go together and are a no brainer. Without them mc-101 is still beta(exagerating here!)trackedchanges wrote: ↑11:26, 6 March 2021 13. ability to sample directly to pads in a drum track

Totally agree. So many llittle details for this machine that are missing.trackedchanges wrote: ↑11:26, 6 March 2021 19. when using the “Sequence Duplicate/Half” shortcut, have the device stay in the Mode in which it’s used. Agree. There should be an option in settings to retain tone/drum pad settings when loading a new sampletrackedchanges wrote: ↑11:26, 6 March 2021 20. when loading samples from the SD card, both pad effect sends are automatically set to “127”. It would be great if they were set to “0” upon loading.
Agree but nore important to see an indication about RAM memory usage.trackedchanges wrote: ↑11:26, 6 March 2021 21. the ability to see how much battery time is remaining or battery percentage
Agree but with the ablity to name everything that the MC707 can name, since its already present in the data structures given in the manual.
What do you mean here? Maybe condition for steps? I agee if thats the case but again look at elektron boxes.trackedchanges wrote: ↑11:26, 6 March 2021 24. ability to have a probability option along with mute probability in the sequencer
Agree but probably not possible. At east they should change the lame message "now playing" to "stop playing and save?".(Jesus!!)trackedchanges wrote: ↑11:26, 6 March 2021 26. ability to Save current project while sequencer is running
Yeah would be nice. Nevertheless has to be said that the omission of sidechain for a dance grooevebox is a crime for the year of production of MC-101.trackedchanges wrote: ↑11:26, 6 March 2021 1. more sample loop modes, e.g., reverse loop, alternating loop

Re: Roland MC-101 Wishlist
Another addendum to this "flashless" or strobeless
mode . buttons capable of being selected or activated can remain solid light ( for example main data knob just remaining solid instead of flashing) while other buttons knobs lights remain off. Another option is to set light flashing to BPM or project tempo across the unit so i can just set it to the lowest BPM while using it as a portable sound module ( less distraction) . of course ill likley just paint the buttons matte black and rid my self of epileptic disco time !
