New ARP...some difficult to use for me.

Post by maxim69 »

Start Hello everyone i'm max From italy.
I've a little question if someone can help me , i'll thank a lot.

I am trying these days the new so.3.0 and in particular the new ARP function.
Not I-ARP the simple one Arp the new.

I would like to make a scene with a simple arp bass on the left and a chord pattern on the right with a polikey o pluck synth.

I have a difficult to make it.
If i play only the bass or only the pluck all is ok......
When i play together....argh.... the Bass trying to make the note over the split line but since the area of the part it's finish in the middle make a cut arp......
The second problem is.... the hold function.
I think for the same reason if i play the arp Bass (with a chord) and after that i play the chord in the upper section.... the Arp Bass stop to play....

Now i think the problem is the Key range of the ARP is a single parameter in ARP COMMON.
Someone can Help me ?

The second answer.... this function i can make it with I-ARP function ?

Thank you very much to All.

I don't think the Arp Common key range is the problem. It's there for exactly what you want to achieve - play arps on one part of the keyboard and something else on the rest.

I'm not at home at the moment, but maybe you need to set Key Rng Low and Key Rng Upp for each Part in Scene Zone as well? Otherwise playing a high note won't trigger the bass arp, but it will play a bass note and presumably cut the arp off?

If that doesn't work, you could try reducing K-Range Oct for the arp, but I'd be surprised if that's necessary - that determines the pitch of the notes played, not the keys pressed.

It can be done but using the I-Arp mode instead of Arp, because the I-Arp 01 UP 16th is a basic arpeggiator, but more customisable.

I'll try to explain all this but it's a bit tricky.

Let's start by splitting the two parts in SCENE ZONE EDIT, PART 1 being the BASS pluck and PART 2 being the CHORDS pluck in my example.

ARP PART COMMON: TYPE 01 up 16th

ARP PART EDIT > PART 1: (All parameters as you want) EXCEPT:
Grid lenght to 2
K-Range Lo: C2 or else, depending of the used TONE, set the lowest pitch
K-Range oct: 1

ARP PART EDIT > PART 2: (All parameters as you want) EXCEPT:
I-Arp TYPE: for example, let's take: 002: TYPE 5 PART 1 (the I-ARP #05 is a 332 clave pattern),
Grid lenght to 8 (minimum because 3+3+2=8 in this example)
Poly remain: 3, 4 or 5
K-Range Lo: C3 or else, depending of what registry you want for chords
K-Range oct: 2, 3 or more

Now, if we play two C major triads on both zones, we should hear:

The BASS pluck that plays: |CEGC|EGCE|GCEG|CEGC etc...

The CHORDS pluck that plays the C chord on a 332 clave like:
|C - - C - - C - |C - - C - - C - |C - - C - - C - etc...

Interesting. I wonder what happens if you set I-Arp TYPE to 0 for Part 2. Can you then play freestyle on the upper keyboard?

I tried various ways of doing that with Arp and nothing worked. You either get arps everywhere or just silence from the keys that are outside the Arp Common key range. This really surprised me as I thought that was the whole point of the arp key range.
