I am still far from starting using any DAW with Fantom, but I am curious...
Once I have a zone with eight waves on its four stereo partials, what is shown on the DAW regarding that zone, please ?
Each wave ? The zone as a whole ? Each partial ?
Thanks...
Question for DAW users, if you please....
Re: Question for DAW users, if you please....
If I can correct a misconception you may have: you cannot edit the tones through a PC, Mac or Windows.
The control connectivity, i.e. the "DAW" button allows for the Fantom to show mixer, playback/recording, and some parameter controls, show on the Fantom's screen.
It does not edit the actual tones within zones.
The USB connection makes the connection for this DAW control, as well as digital audio channels (32 stereo/2 per zone), and midi control, 16 zones/16 midi channels. This is for Mac only (as far as I know right now). And, it only works with Ableton Live, and Apple Logic Pro X. However, you can use any DAW (Window or Mac) for the audio and midi over USB. Just, no fancy screens on the Fantom representing DAW control.
If I can match your question to what I think you mean: a zone is stereo, a mix of the four partials and MFX represented by an stereo audio channel in your DAW. Nothing more granular, I'm afraid.

Ohhhhhh.....
Thanks very much.

Re: Question for DAW users, if you please....
FGM, I'm using FL Studio to access Roland's Zenology VST which is a plug-in available for free (at the moment) from Roland Cloud Manager.
Once you have access to Zenology, you automatically have access to every factory sound that comes with Fantom plus all of the EXZ modules. You can modify and audition a tone in Zenology then save it in the computer (as SVZ) and export it back into the Fantom. Not a streamlined process but serviceable for constructing new tones and experimenting.
I have recorded and arranged in FL Studio but prefer the immediacy of the Fantom.

Re: Question for DAW users, if you please....
Many thanks...
But if I am not wrong, that requires to be online...and is a no-go for me.

Re: Question for DAW users, if you please....
Neither FL Studio nor Zenology requires you to be on line once everything has been downloaded and installed on your computer.
Re: Question for DAW users, if you please....
I will have a try then....Lovely.
I probably thought it based on Zenology Pro requiring it, leading to my misunderstanding...

Re: Question for DAW users, if you please....
I am using Zenology Pro (free so far) without internet connection and it is fully functional.
As long as you don't have a problem initially downloading from Roland Cloud, it should also work for you.
Not sure of time period for free Zenology Pro. I've been using it for about 7 months now.
Maybe someone knows the answer to that?

Re: Question for DAW users, if you please....
I don't quite understand.
Anyway...thanks again.
When Roland made their offer regarding Zenology Pro I did contact them via Support asking some questions...
And they said an internet connection was required and that I was committed to connect at least once a week to keep it alive.
.....?
18 feb. 2021 12:33 GMT-8 Thanks for contacting us. Zenology, like all Roland Cloud virtual instruments, needs to be online once a week for authorization.
Please let us know if you have further questions concerning this matter.

May be as time passes by....😀😀😀😀
