Samples or VA?

Here is a simple way for testing whether oscillators are samples or VA: Initialize the tone and set the pitch bend range to a large value. On the Fantom, the range is -48 to +48 semitones. Pick an oscillator, play and hold a note, and then use the pitch bend lever to increase and decrease the pitch. A sample becomes dull when pitching it down, and there is an aliasing effect when pitching it up.

If you do that on the Roland Fantom, then you immediately notice that SuperSAW on the Fantom is a sample, similar to how it is a simple on its predecessors with SuperNatural Synth engine. Whereas the VA waveforms are VA, similar to how they are VA on its predecessors with SuperNatural Synth engine.
