After some 20 months enjoying my Fantom 8 I thought am ready to add some software.
I have been planning to add Kontakt 6, The Orchestra 2, Komplete 13 Ultimate CE and Ableton Live 11 Suite.
Any experienced user willing to give me some advice, please ?
Fantom and software.
Re: Fantom and software.
It would be useful to know why you want software, why you have picked this specific software, in what music genres you make music, if you play live or only produce music etc. It makes more sense to give advice when we can discuss "the right tool for the task". Because people make music in so many different ways.
Re: Fantom and software.
Thank you.
I go the other way: try to get the very best and then go expanding my capabilities.
So I am not showing a list of must haves to the makers for them to fulfill, I simply assume those are among the very best available and go learning and achieving different goals as I go discovering the many tools available.
Exactly as I do with Fantom.

I see. However, no music software is best for every purpose. In the same way as for synths. Both Roland Fantom 8 and Sequential Prophet 10 are among the very best synths out there, but they are very different. Fantom will probably be the best choice for a Elton John cover band, Prophet 10 will probably be the best choice for a Weather Report cover band. That said: Ableton, Kompakt and Komplete are well known and definitely highly regarded music software.FGM wrote: ↑10:02, 9 June 2022 Thank you.

Re: Fantom and software.
I am only a hobby musician and have never used Ableton. But I am a music technology teacher and know that most of the former students who now work full time as music producers use Ableton. They make electronic music and commercial pop so their projects typically consist of soft synths, samples and recorded vocals. And some of them use Logic which is considered to be a very good all round DAW (for mac users only) and a bit stronger on audio recording features than Ableton.
I believe Ableton Live Suite comes with a lot of content so I would probably spend the first couple of weeks exploring this and then decide what more you want to buy.
If this is what you need to hear: Jean-Michel Jarre uses Ableton and Kompakt/Komplete :-)

Re: Fantom and software.
I use mainstage and found that this combination is working pretty well. Kontakt plugins and mainstage onboard synth are very good. Maybe you take a look on this...
