Cloud requires 'Private Key' sign in?!

Post by 9blackoranges »

I have just updated Roland Cloud Manager ( yet again) and its taken4 tries before download and update worked.

Now its asking :-

RCM Service wants to sign using key " privateKey" in your keychain.

and, a message box saying: To allow this, enter the login keychain password with 3 options ALWAYS ALLOW, DENY : ALLOW

Anyone else seen this? Whats it all about? Allowing any outside access to passwords sounds dangerous?

Using RCM has not been easy or a pleasure and this may be the last straw for me?

Why are they making this so difficult and not at all user friendly. Looks like they are making it up as they go along, Just like the new Fantom.

I think this is just trying to save your Roland Cloud password in the Apple keychain so you don't have to enter it each time you start.

From the keychain access.app help file:
If you’re asked for access to your keychain on Mac

When you connect to an app, server, or other item that’s protected by a password, the item tries to retrieve the password from your keychain. Keychain Access requests your permission to provide the password to the app or server.

Choose one of the following options:

Allow Once: Grant access this time only. You’ll be asked again the next time the app or server needs the password.

Always Allow: Let the app or server retrieve the password from your keychain without any further authorization or notice from you.

Deny: Prevent the app or server from retrieving the password from your keychain. You need to enter the password manually.
