1.50 Bugs

Post by DesertBoat »

These are the bugs that I know of to date in RD-2000 OS ver 1.50. All have been reported to Roland.

=====

Reading the memory location for program tone MSB, LSB, and PC causes the zone effects to reset.

Send a data request to the RD to read the zone current Bank and Program change (for Z1, F0 41 10 00 00 75 11 10 00 20 20 00 00 00 03 CS F7), and the RD correctly responds with the Bank MSB, LSB, and Program Change. However, it also resets the current zone effect to the default effect. This means you cannot query the RD remotely to determine current zone tone without resetting the effect. This happens in zones 1-4, and can be reliably repeated.

=====

Changing an effect from “Rate” to “Note” via Sysex command does not update the RD-2000 display.

Many effects have ability to chose specific time (or rate) or “sync” to RD tempo (♩). When the setting is changed between “note” and “rate”, or “note” and “frequency” via Sysex, the RD display does not update and show the new settings. The effect still appears to function properly and respond to the changed value - this is just a display issue.

This applies to both Mod/FX and Tremolo/Amp SIm

=====

V-Pianos do not implement Piano Designer Settings received via Sysex.

For V-Pianos, the changes to Piano Designer setting via Sysex are are shown in the RD display, but they are not implemented in the tone produced. The changes can be saved to a program, and will be implemented on program on recall. This limits the ability to easily customize piano tones.

Note: the SN piano tones DO respond in real time to the Piano Designer changes received via Sysex.

=====

V-Pianos Individual Voicing will not change from User to Preset or Off via Sysex

On V-Pianos, when changing back to Preset or Off from MDP2 for Individual Voicing via Sysex command, the display will show the change, but the User template is still active.

Note: the SN piano tones DO respond properly to Individual Voicing change via Sysex.

=====

Current rhythm pattern does not update when changed via Sysex.

The RD-2000 rhythm display does not update the rhythm pattern name when controlled externally. The number will update, but not the name.

=====

Two parameters in external zone settings, cc5 (portamento time) and cc75 (decay), do not properly initialize an assigned control knob.

Specifically, for these two controllers, the values loaded in the program settings do not properly initialize the lights on a RD-2000 knob 1-8 (when assigned), and when you start moving that assigned control, you have a jump in value. The program does transmit the stored value to the external device on load.

There is one other external program parameter that is not pre-assigned to a CTL knob, cc93 (chorus). This does sync properly to an assigned knob.

=====

EXP-5 Rotary Behavior Speed Anomaly

All EXP-5 TW-2 tones have an anomaly with rotary speed. For those with default speed on slow, if the rotary is set to fast, then a drawbar is moved, the rotary returns to the default fast speed.

For those with default rotary speed of fast (3,4,9,17), the opposite is true. Set the rotary to slow, move a drawbar, and the rotary returns to fast.

This happens with both Rotary I and II.

This limits the ability to grab drawbars and change speeds during a live performance.
