Will there be a new model soon?

Post by ZeroZero »

Happy RD700NX owner here. Just about to buy the RD2000. I notice a price drop, does anyone think there is a new model about to drop?

Of course I have no actual knowledge on this... but my guess would be:

NO

There was 3 years between RD800 and RD2000..
Its been 3 1/2 years since the RD2000 release..
I have seen an add from a shop in Holland saying, last 6 in stock..
There is the new Zen Core engine..

I severely hope they will keep the super natural and V-piano sounds on board with the new Zencore engine..
Thats something they should have learned from their Fantom experience..

Will we see a RD2020 just because it sounds so good?
Same interface, except with the screen of the fantom?

Its just a matter of time before we know..

I think its functionallity as both stage piano and master keyboard makes the RD2000 sit on a special place with not much competition.. and i sincerely hope Roland can resist the urge of going down the same track as yamaha did in copying to many things from the nord stage. Or is it only me that thinks its great to have a stage piano and master true master keyboard inside?

It's really hard to answer that question as Roland usually keeps the secret until just a few weeks or even days before a new release.

But I heard they're still manufacturing the RD 2000 so it is not discontinued. You will know that something is coming when the RD2000 gets discontinued, but not yet.

It is interesting that the RD2000 has taken longer time in the market than other releases from Roland and other brands. But I think it's because of the fact that this piano was setting new future standards (like having an integrated audio interface, the new rainfall technology which will replace MIDI in the future, and take in mind that the RD2000 is marketed as a digital stage piano but it is actually more than that, it is a master keyboard/controller).

I strongly believe that all they need to do is to release a system update for the RD2000 with new sounds and features and more expansion capabilities, plus a couple of new Axial expansion libraries. And keep adding to the keyboard. But I don't think they wiould do that. The business is to make us buy a new instrument which is more profitable to them when the time comes.

If i had to make a guess..

Namm 2021, winter Namm that is..

As someone expressed.. lets hope they kerp both the super natural and V-piano sounds on board..
The Fantom reactions must have learned rolland that Super natural is still very much appreciated..
I hope they add the zen core engine..

So what would we get then..
An 8 part Fantom witouth the sequencers.. and the interface of an RD2000?
Hopefully they add the big screen and the 6 knobs..
