Live performance app recommendation
Live performance app recommendation
Newbie to the forum - I searched for this topic but didn't find exactly what I'm looking for. I have a DS-88. I mainly use it for live gig performance. I'm also a bassist and switch back and forth between the bass and keys, sometimes mid-song. (No, I'm not Geddy Lee. You and I both wish.) I know how to set presets on the keyboard, but I'm looking for the best / easiest / most user-friendly way to quickly call up patches and presents via a connected iPad (ideally) or Mac (if need be.) Something more user-friendly than all the tweaky buttons on the keyboard. Does anyone have a recommendation for the best app / most MIDI-compatible with the Juno DS / easiest to quickly click during a live gig to tell the keyboard what sounds to use? Thx!
Re: Live performance app recommendation
For iPad you definitely would want this:
https://audiomodeling.com/camelot/overview/
It allows you to define multiple scenes per song, and each scene can automatically send program changes messages to your JunoDS (or any other hardware keyboard on the MIDI bus or any VST installed on the iPad). Change from one scene to another can be automated using song's time marks, or you can change between them manually by touching the screen or using a control pedal (not sure about this, tough).

Besides Camelot Pro, there's also Keystage, AUM, iMidiPatchbay, and also set management apps that can send MIDI Program Changes when you call up a a song, like Set List Maker.

+1 vote for Set List Maker. I've been using it since iOS 9.x

Hi danbct,
I do a lot of switching with midi between performances, patches and scenes during a current set.
In order to do this I use a midi foot controller from Morningstarfx, the MC6 II. I program the midi foot controller for what I need and it does everything I need it to do. I am able to do specific system exclusive commands through it to switch between performance and patches. I also use Bandhelper software with my iPad for my performances. Bandhelper can also be used to send midi commands but I like the footswitch option because it’s quicker and it keeps my hands free.
Cheers
