Loving my new DS, but one question which someone who knows the machine better might be able to answer.
On my old Alesis Micron, there was a "hold" switch which caused notes to keep playing continuously. I used this on a couple of songs and played other bits whilst the drone kept playing.
Looking to split the DS and have notes droning without being played on one half, while I play on the other half.
Is this achievable? If it was something that could be toggled quite quickly, then that would be great.
Many thanks for any help.
How to achieve constant "drone" sound on DS
Re: How to achieve constant "drone" sound on DS
In theory it should be possible if you assign the Sustain Pedal to Sostenudo Mode. Then it will only hold the notes that are played when you simultaneously dpepress the pedal and none of the subsequent notes.

Re: How to achieve constant "drone" sound on DS
I just tested it on my DS88 and it works, but you cannot reassign the Sustain pedal to Sostennuto. You can, however, reassign the CC Pedal to Sostenuto. So in order to make this work you need a Roland EV-5 continuous pedal attached or something similar from another manufacturer.

Sorry Gary, I missed your reply over the festive period.
Not sure I want to involve any more equipment. I've been having a playing with using the arpeggiator on "hold" and playing a single note with a long delay. I only really need a single note drone (no, I'm not playing bagpipe tunes!!;-) )
