Metallic Sound?

Post by b3keys »

I thought the V Piano MP3s on the Sonic State Site sounded quite metallic. Agree? Disagree?

Absolutely disagree. May depend on what you're listening through - on my AKG K271S's the sound is superbly warm and balanced, no hint of metallic character.

Completely disagree!

I do think the Roland.com videos sound better as they are 16bit 48000Hz mov (quick time) files compared to the 16bit 44000Hz MP3 files sonic state used.

And I’m 100% sure Roland used a much better recording process on much better equipment. Sonic state may have done nothing more than plug the V-piano into the cameras audio inputs. You have to take a lot of things into account when listening to online video. It’s always best to assume the instrument in question will sound better and slightly different live.

And don’t forget, you can set the V-piano the way you want it to sound.

i played the V-piano at the Frankfurt fair . The basic sound is warm and natural. Only when you switch to triple silver strings the sound gets bright and shiny.

i didnt think it sounded metallic other than it being metal strings that it's suppose to be replicating.

wat was more impressing to me was how close my G8's NY piano sound that i edited resembled the basic character of the v-piano's patch they used in that piece.

im glad see this because i like the piano i use on my G8 and the v-piano being an advanced (improved) version of it, that just excites me more.

hurry up on those titanium screws! ;)
