Midi freeze with 2080

Post by mirkos »

Hello,

Just bought 2080 today ( I already have keyboard,xp 80,but I love this sound),and I have some small problems.

When I record 2-3 channels in Cubase,I got some stuck and crashes when running 2080.This only happens when I enter midi channel that was recorded...

So,any tips?

Heya,

If what you mean by "freezing," that one or more notes is being stuck "ON," I have found that it usually occurs when you edit a track, and sometimes you "chop off" the NOTE OFF info.

EXAMPLE:

If you play an arpeggiated C chord (C5-E5-G5-C6), but you want to insert a C7-9 in the next measure, so you just "INSERT" a new measure and plop your C7-9.

Well, unfortuately, you had held the final C6 in your first chord for a couple of clicks into that next measure, and those two little clicks are now gone because of the measure insert, and on the back end of that C6 note was the NOTEOFF message.

Soooooo, when playing back a sequence, the keyboard/synth dutifully plays C5-E5-G5-C6, and the C5-E5-G5 silences as designed, because those notes were COMPLETELY contained in that individual measure. BUT, the final C6, while getting its NOTEON and VELOCITY messages, NEVER GETS a NOTEOFF message, so it just will continue to play and play until you hit ANOTHER C6, somewhere later in the piece.

If you edit that track where the note is stuck, you'll see a big long sustain line of that miscreant note. Just delete it, and the next time you hit "play," your "stuck note" will be gone.

If that's NOT the problem you're speaking of.. well...

..nevermind. :)
