XP50 and loops on cards

I've got an XP 50 and some of the expansion cards. The sounds are wonderful but I haven't been able to figure out how to use the loops other than just to mess about. When I use CUBASE, Sound forge or any of the other programs it lets me use the loops but I can't quantize or record the sounds with the rest of the music that I've created. Is there something I'm missing out on or exactly how do you get any benefit from the loops on the Sessions, Pop and Dance cards for example...I've got those and others and I have no doccumentation as to how to use the loops to any benefit.
Can anyone help me out?
