SRX boards...

I'm about to buy a Fantom X7, and I'm looking to get some SRX boards to go in it. I'm buying the Fantom to complete a home studio, where I already have guitars, drums, bass, etc.

I do mainly general rock/pop tunes, so I'm mostly interested in Brass, Organs, Strings, Piano. I had planned to get the SRX-7 for organs and SRX-10 for brass, but was unsure of whether to get the SRX-6 orchestra or the SRX-4 Strings.

Do you think I have the right selections here, and should I go Orchestra or Strings. Also, I'd be greatful for any general opinions or advice ;o)

I had to make the same decision... I went for SRX6 - Complete Orchestra. I'm in a very similar situation to you and have SRX06, SRX07 and SRX09 in my X7.

I'd go with the 6... orchestra sounds are far more usable - and used - than single string sound.

I would describe SRX04 as horrible. Flat and dull sounds. Not a single patch I could use for rap music.

Everyone I've spoken to says go for the Orchestra sounds, so Orch it is!

I pick up my new toys tomorrow. ;o)
