SRX Boards' Rising Prices

Post by hglord »

A year ago, the street price of most of the SRX boards was $220USD. Six months ago, it rose to $240USD. In the last week, it's risen to $250USD. I'm talking about the prices listed when you Google an SRX board then methodically go through several pages of listings looking for the lowest price. The same happens when you use one of the various price bots to search for the best price.

I've bought four SRX boards on eBay for good prices, but can't find SRX-06 (Orchestra) or SRX-10 (Brass). Those are the ones I need and I'm pretty leary of spending $250USD for each of them.

Does anyone know why the price has been rising?

Thanks.

Even Kraftmusic.com is raising prices? they are the most reasonable I'd found for new boards.
I firmly agree with you. Do not spend $250 for either of these boards, especially brass. It isn't as good as I'd hoped it would be. and I got it for $190. Now that I know what software instruments sound like, I think that even at $190 they are over priced, but the ease of use might make it worth it, but definitely definitely not $250.

Good suggestion, Rordog. Kraftmusic.com is selling SRX-10 for $235.95USD. That's still pretty high, but better than $250.00.

I'm still hoping that the logjam on eBay of SRX-02s and SRX-11s breaks.

my guess that the SRX board sales are distributed thru Roland of US

If thats the case the US $ has been taking a beating vs other currencies . And US co's that sell multi nationally make up for the US currency devaluation by dinging up the price at retail.

Plus you noticed the energy markets have gone crazy the past 2 months. Anything related to petro chemicals, such as packaging and travel has to eventually pass the cost along

I see little chance of the SRX cost going down. They used to be $290- $320. I wouldn't dilly dally over $20 price change

I got both SRX-11 and SRX-10 brand new for $199 each at one of Guitar Center's monthly "Green List/Best Sale of the Year" events in June. So, sometimes you will see them on sale...

There used to be lots of SRX auctions on ebay. Seem like it is getting fewer listings, except SRX2.
No wonder SRX prices are going up.

tonedef: zzounds.com is selling the SRX boards for $249.95 right now. Kraft Music is selling them for $235.95.

I can't remember a time when zzounds.com had the cheapest price for anything.

tonedef: Good point. I was just looking at the SRX boards that I actually need.

At the moment, zzounds.com has some B-stock SRX boards which they're selling for $169.95 (as you said). They also have some SRX boards that were opened in the store or the warehouse that they're selling for less than their new price, which is still $249.95.

So, if you need the ones that are cheaper, it sounds like an opportunity. At least it's something to watch.

Yeah, why are the Australian prices so high? And last time I checked, I could not find a US website prepared to ship to Australia. This sucks, come on Roland must have gotten their money back on them by now :)

You read it right

Yes, in Australia just ONE srx board is over AUD $700 retail. Although you can mail order them for under $600. Its still way more than the exchange rate, but you can only buy the Australian imported product here.

That's normal for music gear here, there's a lot of money added but I can't really see the justification.
