The TR-808 Kit is GREAT !!!

Post by Still Learning »

Hey Fantom users!!, I highly recommend Artemio's TR-808 Emulation kit. It is totally fun, sounds great, and just a blast to play with!! I just picked it up and it is absolutely fantastic. Artemio did a great job on this product. You pay your $9.95, you download the files, load up your fantom and you instantly have a TR-808 drum machine only better because of the Fantoms capabilities which are expertly and professionally described by Artemio in the included User Guide.

I've got 2 middle school aged kids and last night they had a blast setting up hip-hop and break-beat rhythms and loops. They can't wait until the weekend to invite their friends over and play with it some more!!

This is a great way to support this website and really easy to do. All you need is $9.95 and a credit card, Artemio and Paypal do the rest.

Artemio, You could easily sell this kit in lots of music stores here in the U.S. for $29.99 or more. I know this would be a major hit in Guitar Center, Sam Ash, and on a site like Sweetwater, Musicians Friend, or Musicians Buy. You are sitting on a gold mine Artemio, Get out there and start selling this stuff, it is GOOD !!

From Artemio's product summary:

TR-808 Emulation Kit
This is a special sound kit that faithfully emulates the sounds of the legendary TR-808 Rhythm Composer, designed at ArtemioLabs. It includes synth patches with complete sonic control (based solely on basic waves), drum-kit-style performance setup, great user guide, preset patterns, extra samples and more. Thanks very much for your positive review! I am honoured to hear that these sounds found a good use at your side. I am also very glad kids enjoyed it as well. ;-)

I am planning adding some extra features to the kit soon, namely a possibility to play the sounds with pads plus maybe some extra free beat samples.

Will it work in the rack? What advantages does it have over the stock 808 samples in the Fantom-XR?

Tim:

yes, there will soon be a MIDI file version for XR users, I will announce it.

The benefit of the kit compared to samples (whether stock or other 3rd party) is that all sounds can be vastly customised. Not just pitched or tweaked, but changed in a more deep way, and there's a guide which tells how. Also, the sounds are not static samples, and are made of basic waves only (sine, saw, noise) with structures/filters/envelopes/etc. and they sound much more warm and lifeful than you'd expect.

Tim, I can trust you and send you a demo when it's ready for XR. You can have a tweak at it and then decide if you want to get one or not.

Cool, A. Let me first decide if I'm even keeping the rack at all. This motherboard thing is really getting me concerned. I need to make sure the new rack I get (the one I originally bought in December was damaged and the store is going to replace it "as soon as they get a new one in stock") will be free from all of these motherboard problems many people seem to be reporting.

Then I will get with you on the 808 sounds.

Artemio, I really like your TR808 samples and I use them quite often. Just a question regarding the source of the samples, do you actually own a TR808?

Jost, I am glad you like the sounds. No, as it is written everywhere and I do not undestand why you missed it, it is not made of any samples. All sounds are synthesised only from basic waves (sine, saw, noise) filtered, "enveloped", LFO-modulated and joined into structures. This is original work, that's why it's quite interesting. Unline samples, the set can be tweaked deeply on your Fantom, and the user guide tells you how.

chubbylove, getting your TR808 sample from Artemio is like getting a homemade cake from someone you know. Getting the free TR808 sample from akai.com is like getting a donut from McDonalds.

chubbylove: I am not selling 808 samples which are available for free download. This is a careful synthesis emulation of the 808's sounds, how many times should I say it is?! ;-) These sounds are made out of basic synth waves like sine and noise, not out of 808 samples of any kind. It's original work you can customise as you want, and it can give you more than any static sample set.

Artemio, I can imagine how frustrating this is for you - I didn't realize the nature of your TR808 samples either till I read your previous post, I only noticed how 'nice' they sat in my mix and therefore wandered about the 'source' of the samples. But I think your hard work in making your samples is finally getting recognized. So, keep the good work up.
