How do I select patches>128 on the XV-5080 from SRX card?

Hi,

I just got the SRX-04 and SRX-07 cards and wanted to try them first in my recently acquired XV-5080. According to the manual the SRX cards contain some 400 or 500 patches in their ROM but... how do I access these?

So far I have only be able to audition the first 128. I know I could send an MSB/LSB/PC combination from my Fantom to select the other patches as per the patch list but surely I can select those >128 patches from the XV-5080 front panel?

Hi Arjan,

It sounds like your XV-5080 might be running an older system OS. Try upgrading to the latest:

Thanks for replying. I actually looked at the XV-5080 support pages at the Roland website prior to the thing arriving as I considered it might need an update; must have overlooked it somehow.

Another question: do you know how to check the current OS version? I couldn't find how to do that in the manual.

If you press System > Info (tab), it should be displayed there. If it isn't, then your XV-5080's level is <1.20, in which case you definitely ought to upgrade.

Turns out it's at version 1.20. Thanks for your help, have some updating to do

Updated to 1.30 over MIDI and presto, all SRX patches are available. Next I'll try the CD with JV patches, should be some really nice ones in there. The SRX patches seem heavily focussed on everything but analog synth sounds.
