JD 990 !

I picked on up,. as old as it is. It kicks a$$. I love its simplicity as well
it has the vintage synth board in it,.. cool vintage sounds well worth it.

now,. tell me what do I do with the card slots?
Theres 2,.. PCM and Data,.

You need to do three things:
1. In the Data slot put one of Roland's memory cards (M-256E or M-512E) and this will double the amount of patches you can store.

2. Try and track down the String Ensemble PCM card (SL-JD80-04) - put the PCM card in and some nice string sounds will come your way. This is as rare as rocking horse s**t, it may cost more than the JD-990 itself.

3. Make sure you load the special JD, as well as the JV, patches from the Vintage board.

Armed with these your JD-990 will rule the world (or at least your bedroom).

You are correct about the JD ruling !.. I'm really surprised I have to admit given the age of the unit.

I was a firm believer in software over hardware until I tried this thing. Suspiciously,.. it reminded me a lot of the Atmosphere and Omnisphere sounds. No wonder,.. eh?
Then I contacted Spectrasoncs about selling my licenses.

The JD and Fantom XR, I'm pretty stoked for sounds.

I have one too and love it. You can put one of the JV expansion cards in it and the Vintage card was made for it. Actually the JD990 can access some waveforms that other units can't. Really rocks and is killer with this card.
