JU-06A vs JU-06: MAJOR differences!
JU-06A vs JU-06: MAJOR differences!
the JU-06A has significant improvements over the JU-06:
- has lfo retrig off/on
- has 7 lfo shapes
- has pwm to env
- can sync lfo and delay to bpm
- has arpeggiator and hold key
- items buried in menus are now on the front panel (sequencer parameters, delay on/off + parameters, portamento, solo/unison, etc
- has both Juno-106 OR Juno-60 at a flick of a switch
- double the memory slots (64 per synth)
- much more authentic vintage aesthetics
- improved latency
So even as a JU-06 owner, I'm getting one.

another major difference:
no possibility for pitchbending when the synth is used with the K-25m keyboard

And for $100 they can keep it.horacewimp wrote:another major difference:

The pitch and mod strips on the early boutiques are pretty lousy anyway. Skip the overpriced K-25m and get any other portable MIDI controller. If you need it to work without a computer, look for one with a DIN MIDI output. Arturia Keystep is a good choice.horacewimp wrote:another major difference:

The JU-06A would make a nice module but I really enjoy having my JU-06 (along with the JP-08 and D-05) with a K-25m as a portable simple keyboard set-up. I took the JP-08 in a K-25m overseas in my carry on bag.
I am not really a huge fan of the pitch/Mod ribbon controller strips though I do like having control of pitch/mod on the unit since it is not on the K-25m.

The wood ears are nice. Is that a limited edition or did you add those yourself?Synthtron wrote:The JU-06A would make a nice module but I really enjoy having my JU-06 (along with the JP-08 and D-05) with a K-25m as a portable simple keyboard set-up. Afaik the Boutique JU-06 could be usb bus-powered by the Aira MX-1,
Does anyone know what the story is with MX-1 usb compatibility for the JU-06a, can it also be bus-powered??

However, I can't get the chord memory function to work IF after selecting the chord map I want (15 in this case) I then hit the NOTE button and play that chord map from the module's keys. I CAN do it from an external controller. Apparently selecting the NOTE function on the module turns off the chord map I had just selected. Not a HUGE thing because if I ever used this out it would be plugged into an M-Audio controller. I need that perfect 5ths to play the synth part n ABACAB.Stormchild wrote:Also, chord memory
I am really poring over the manual for the first time trying to see about shutting off the annoying feature that it reverts the display into to the scrolling JU-06A strip after whatever period of inactivity.

Another DUH from me. When I was testing the chord memory function, I just happened to be on patch 1-5, which is a unison patch, so when I played a note and got one note instead of the mapped chord, it's because of the patch. I tried it again with patch 1-1 and it worked fine. I don't know how much function it really offers to play the module from the tiny buttons, but it works if you want to.
