New sounds for JX-03

Post by psalm37 »

Hi all,

I was just wondering what the consensus was on me designing a ton of new sounds for the JX-03.
I would usually create 128 new sounds for a synthesizer.
The issue I have with the JX-03 (now I have one) is that there are only 16 spaces for user presets.
So customers would have to sift through 8 individual file imports when flicking through my release.

Is this really worth it? Would anyone be bothered to import a file, go through 16 and then import another file, go through 16 and so on and so on?
Thoughts and suggestions welcome...

JX-03 is fantastic, I'd be interested.

16 presets doesn't bother me.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. I'm thinking whilst I have the instrument I might as well do the work.
I'm also thinking that I could categorise the 8 folders by Bass, pad, keys etc - this might make it easier for the user to load up what they're looking for in that moment.

Hi,

Of the original Boutiques, I found the JX03 to be the most diverse, interesting and easy to come up with new, useful patches.

Within one day of getting one, I created this cheesy little demo:

It's great for spontaneous sound creation but such a pity that it can only store 16 patches. I had hoped a firmware update would have addressed this but I guess that's never going to happen now, 3 years on.

Maybe you could test the water with, say, 6 banks of 16 and see how receptive people are?

Don't see why not it's a my favorite of the boutiques because of it's sounds.

Good, I'll definitely go for it then.
TBH I don't think it's really going to pay back for the effort I put into this set of presets but I've got it so I might as well do it.

I do prefer the way the JX-03 sounds over the JP-08 which I've already done a bunch of sounds for:

We surely would welcome fresh patches :)

Oh, this reminds me of that "semi secret" mode on the original jx3p that would let you disable the sequencer, to instead get one extra user bank to store your own patches on:):

Some interesting read in there
