Controlling Jd xi with system 1

Hi all just wondering if anyone knows if it would be possible to control the jdxi with the Roland system 1
Just bought a jdxi yesterday and connected the 2 together.could trigger notes but that was all .
Don’t know if it would be possible to control any of the deeper settings with my Roland system 1 .
I am new here and couldn’t see any other threads on the matter
