Analog part 1 sounds when digital part is on

Post by avi.pfeffer »

Hi,

I have the following behavior:

All parts off: no sound
Digital part 1 on with no partials enabled, all other parts off: analog part 1 is heard
Same with analog part 1 muted: no sound

Same happens with other digital parts on - analog part 1 goes on even though I don't actually turn it on.

The digital part is not selected as the aux source for analog part 1, so that's not an explanation.

Anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks,

Avi

Hi Avi,

I have exactly the same issue!

It also happens to me when I import Integra sounds and I get analog part one tone in the background. You can get round it by turning down the amp level and saving the program but its another frustrating step in the workflow.

I don't know about you but Im finding far too many issues like this that are really making me not enjoy the machine.

Also not being able to see the lettering on the controls is beginning to be a problem as well.

How do you feel about the machine?

I find muting the part solves the problem, so it is not a big deal, but it is a surprising bug.

This is my first hardware synth. I have lots of soft synths and was hesitant to take the plunge, but after a couple of days I can see what the fuss is about. It sounds huge! I can quickly make sounds I would have a hard time coming up with with my soft synths.

I don't like that some of the controls are hidden in menus. And I hope there aren't more bugs. But so far, I'm really liking it.

Finally someone else! I had decided I was crazy and was the only one finding problems like this! Try doing a factory reset and see if the problem disappears. I had the exact same thing occur with my board and I found that behavior like this would clear up when I did a factory reset. However, I ran across so many other deep bugs in patch editing that DIDN'T clear up with factory reset that I finally just pulled the plug on this turkey and got my money back. I actually had Sweetwater Sound send me a second one to demo to make sure it wasn't just a bum unit, but the aberrant behaviors were identical on both boards.

The mute issue you refer to was the first one I noticed. Be prepared to find many more. The more I dug into this board, the more I realized that this baby just isn't ready for prime time. If you want all of the gory details, I'd be happy to share, but suffice it to say I was bummed out about the experience because I was really jazzed about this keyboard when it was first announced. I know others on here love it, and more power to them - wish my ears could hear what theirs do, but this was the first (and hopefully only) Roland product I've ever asked for my money back on. And in case anyone wonders, no I'm not some crank with an axe to grind with Roland. I'm the happy owner of a half-dozen of their synths and will continue to root for them to return to form after what is in my opinion a real misfire on their part.

Cheers,
Mike

I must be very lucky with my JDXA, I am not having the problems described above in this post.

Are you using the JD-XA connected via USB ?
If so you need to be aware the if the send channel is Channel One then any other active part will always activate the 1st Analog voice looping the midi input back out to your JD-XA. Either have it set to send / receive on all channels (which I do in Logic and it only sends back on the receiving channel) or set the midi channel in your DAW to correspond to that parts midi channel only.
Otherwise I am a bit confused as mine does not display this behaviour at all.
