Please tell me if I me stupid and missing something obvious here.
I have bought a System 1m, installed the USB driver, set it up so is the audio input in Ableton Live, midi’d it up to my midi keyboard, and plugged the audio outs in as well, but I cannot get it to play anything over midi.
It is my understanding that the system 1m is a synth, and not just a midi controller for the SH101, SH2, Promars and System 1 plugin software.
I have registered the system 1m with my roland account, but am getting nowhere.
Am I missing something really obvious here?
I am running OSX 10.9.5 on a macbook pro 2.8GHz i7 with 16Gb of ram.
System 1m issue – please help

Did you try both pairs of MIDI Din jacks?

Did you try without the USB plug connected? Maybe USB overwrites the midi input.
If this is the case you can connect your keyboard to your Mac and into ableton, then select a midi channel in ableton with the output set to the system 1m's USB output and play it from your keyboard.

Try this:
Hold SYSTEM1 and PLU-OUT buttons and turn the arp TYPE dial:
1 - External MIDI only
2 - Keyboard and external MIDI
3 - No sound, only MIDI OUT.
1,2,3 are the LEDs around the pitch ring.

System-1m doesn't have those controls.

Oops, I missed the M bit, sorry.
Re: System 1m issue – please help

its pretty well explained there , imo!
If that still doesnt work, try using the system-1m midi in connected to the keyboard midi out, without connecting ANYTHING else (Audio in). Best thing is to use a headphone connected to the system-1m directly to verify if it plays anything.
