Hello there.
I have a problem recording "motion” using per step method (''entering a value at a specified step" method from TR-8S owner's manual page 11, see screenshot).
Please watch and listen to short video that I attached.
E.g. I have 4 snare drum hits in pattern. These hits have Decay=50 by default. so I decide to utilise Decay=05 on 3rd hit. After that, as the loop keep playing, ALL hits after 3rd hit will be played back AS IF their Decay was =05 (athough, there is no recorded "motion" on following steps)
At the same time, i can manually (or tweeking knobs while Motion [rec] button is lit) record Decay=50(or any desired number) for all other steps , and now playback is ok, all "motions" are working...., but its not how it suppose to work, right? All no-motion steps that are played after steps with motion, seems to "pick up" last automated value.
I have this problem recording Decay, Tune ant Ctrl controls but surprisingly it works well with Velocity changings - velocity can be easily modified per step-ly.
It seems to me that it is some software problems so I updated tr-8s to ver 2.51 (i bought it with ver 2.0) but it didnt solve the problem.
Please help, thanks

Re: TR-8S Recording MOTION Problem
Hi,
I tried to reproduce the same thing, you're doing.
the difference is I have tr editor at the same time because you can see decay in yellow when you modify parameters.
the only way it worked for me is when i set decay value for each step, so i pressed each step and turned the knob , and i could see it changing inside tr editor.
if you notice in the attachment, I have third step with decay high while i specified a low decay for the rest.

Re: TR-8S Recording MOTION Problem
so this means that it is working how it should work? and than the best method to input motion data is to tweek knobs while loop is playing with motion rec button lit?
meanwhile i dont understand why i can change velocity of one exact step (holding 1 button), and following steps without velocity data would not pick up last value of the step that had velocity data
Re: TR-8S Recording MOTION Problem
I don't know to be honest if this is how it's supposed to work. But when I try the motion Rec button and I move the coarse for example, I see this <attached>.
so it's automatically overwriting all the other values. maybe this is how it's supposed to work.
I'm not sure if anyone else can drop in their feedback here.
