Short in MX1 volume knob?

I have an issue with the MX1 volume knob. I have to hold it in a certain position to receive the expected audio output. I believe there is a busted connection or short. How difficult would it be to fix this? If this is something that can be fixed at home, does anyone have any good videos they could link me to?
