So I’ve been having a huge issue with my new TR8-S. it plays nice for a while, but after a while of editing the audio cracked then completely turns to a fuzzy noise.
I have the unit connected to my Mac Pro which is running the latest High Sierra version. I’m using it within an aggregate device alongside my Focusrite 1820i mk2, Aldi running the latest version software.
When i open Cubase 9.5 (latest version) and create an instrument it plays perfectly for quite a while, though after time the sound deteriorates. I have tried all the obvious things, changing cables, changing ports, reinstalled the TR8-S firmware. I’ve even tried it at different samplerates, though the issue persists.
This is definitely an issue only over usb audio as when I plug in headphones the sound is still perfect.
Once I disconnect the Tr8s from the aggregate device by unchecking it the reinstate it the sound returns.
I don’t know if this is a TR8 issue as such or a computer issue, however it is very annoying.
Any help or advise would be very welcome.
TR8-S audio breakup
Re: TR8-S audio breakup
Maybe increase the buffer size? And sample rate should be the same as the focusrite asio driver.
Re: TR8-S audio breakup
I’ve tried all buffer rates, this isn’t the issue unfortunately. That is the first thing I tried.
Re: TR8-S audio breakup
Can you try to set it as the only audio interface? Does the problem then still persist?

Setting it as the only audio device would mean I can’t hear the audio via my interface, which makes it not a valid test. The issue can’t be heard when plugging my headphones into the TR8-S, it happens through the usb output only.
I have concluded it is an aggregate device issue, though it only happens with the TR8, all my other devices are ok. I have given up on audio over usb for now.
Re: TR8-S audio breakup
More than 3 years later, I have this exact same issue (Ableton / Mac Mini M1silicon chip). @WhatThe: did you ever resolve this specific audio over USB issue?
Re: TR8-S audio breakup
FIXED: just needed to enable drift correction for the TR-8S in the aggregate device setup on my mac. Works flawless now.
