Hello guys:
I'm here to connect with FA owners community that acquired a new FANTOM, or have plans to do so, and have tons of setups to migrate to new FANTOM, like myself.
I am the developer of the Windows PC FA Editor: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9pns3rg9tvqt
FA Editor forum topic here: viewtopic.php?t=58136
Instead of spend days to just recriate Scenes on FANTOM, I am working on a converter tool to make it easier and useful for the community. The goal is to be able to recreate the Scenes and User Tones from FA contents. Songs and Samples are out of scope.
There are many similarities in terms of workflow, structures and sounds between FA and FANTOM, however, I am finding lot of obstacules to be transposed.
The first challenge is the unknow and incompatible backup file formats, proprietary of Roland.
- The way I see now to make a converter tool possible for everyone is to have all the Studio Sets from FA previously available in .syx files (SysEx bulk dump handled by FA Editor), which will be convertible to FANTOM later on.
- So, I suggest everyone which will not keep your FA, to use the Library feature from the FA Editor to make a complete read out from FA User Studio Sets and save everything into .syx files for a future convertion.
While the converter is not ready, I am using the FA Editor to easily see all the parameters in a big PC screen to guide me on create the most wanted scenes and jobs manually on Fantom.
I would enjoy comments and suggestions, and candidates to help me to debug the beta versions.
Keep in touch!
Marcelo.
