live amplification

as a new user to FA o6

What would you recommend as live amplification for this keyboard. Currently i cant find a good way to do this. I have been going straight into the mixer but im unhappy with the result as i cannot hear the monitoring so well and our band contains 2 aggressive guitars and drummer. I thought about trying a compact pa system like a Samson 510i but i fear this aint gonna be man enuff.
Recommendations on how to achieve the obejective and maximise the potential of this keyboard.
Tips on how to connect to PA and retain tone etc and how to be able to accurately monitor the result

Hey Thunderz, I've hooked up my fa-06 to my Yamaha Stagepas 500 for the first time today and I'm blown away by the sound quality. The Supernatural tones and effect are the best I've heard through this system, the clarity is superb, and the complete EQ system on the fa-06 means balancing everything up was easy, as a bonus you can pick the Stagepas 500 for good money now as its been replaced. I have a wharfedale pro active wedge monitor in the setup and it sounds good enough through that on its own, as good as any stage combo I've used over the years to be honest. Check out the link :)

I know these are used mainly for PA and monitors, but for the sound quality, versatility, and ease of portability & setup, I use the new EV ZLX-15P powered speakers. They sound great at home and on any size stage. I put 2 of them behind me or beside me, facing however works best to hear myself and help, if not completely fill, the venue with Roland wonderfulness.

oohh..no no. ;) thanks for trying to help, but..
You get what you pay for with those light-up flea-market-sold DJ speakers, and normally not even all you paid for. I'd say the raw power rating is probably off &/or sounds unclean or altered especially at certain or high volumes. You paid good money for your Roland, so you need to get actual good sound quality and reliability, with specs you can trust, use, abuse, and will actually make you look and sound professional.
It's always a shame to get lower quality speakers/amps and headphones to listen to and perform with, especially considering the higher quality sound sources we're all playing from.
Of course, if you're not playing a Roland, then knock yourself out. ;)

Very good opinion on the speakers mentioned here:
It is clear, that is what those cheap speakers for paid ............
It is quite true that we pay a lot of money to have a Roland, so the quality of the speakers should be commensurate with the money we have spent on the keyboard.
I just put the link to get a cheap solution.
I use these speakers in a small study where the volume is not high and can also use them in a live performance as monitors.
Since I spent a lot of money to buy the Roland, of course it's a shame not to listen with a more professional and more expensive speakers, but after buying the Roland and I have not been able fanciest more money on a professional speaker
When I win the lottery, and then I can buy a powerful speaker system for live completely professional; but for now, I'll have to settle for cheap Skytec KA-210.

Another vote here for the Yamaha Stagepas, I've been using the Stagepas 300 for live monitoring for the past couple of years and they've been great. In retrospect I should've bought the more powerful 500s, but if I park one of the monitors on a stand behind my head and I can hear everything fine.

Hi All

I can say for those who might be considering the Samson xp510i dont...as good as they might be they aint got the balls for a live rock band.
There advertised as 500 watts ..maybe as a vocal pa for a Zuma teacher or things along that line. But for live keyboardist ,,,NAH,,,Sorry Samson
i have read that Bass amps can be good for keys. My next trial involves a line 6 ld400pro with a separate mixer before the Main Pa,
Ill keep ya posted how it turns out

Just as an afterthought has anyone used or is using the behringer f3000fx keyboard amp
Its far cheaper than a Roland and I know its got that name but with all my reading it gets good reviews
So for those that know the Amp...is it man enough to project..etc etc

well still I aint got mystage monitoring right... As i write this im waiting for a Roland KC350 to trial with out put to the main desk from the amp. My only concern is that it is rated at 120watts and im wondering if it will have the balls. Its been trial and error all the way so far,
Im beginning to get jarred off with getting this sorted.
I read and read other peoples comments and for every good comment theres always one wag who says he got drowned out at Knebworth by some nut on a Jews Harp playing thru a jamjar. You know how it goes. When im just straight into the desk the FA sounds as thin as sticky the stick insect or As fat as Idi AMin in the bun shop.
Its frustraten me to hell. I hope this Roland Amp is worth a shout

Get a decent powered PA speaker. Yamaha DRX series, QSC K series, EV ELX series, etc. I use a QSC K10 and have yet to have problems hearing it in a loud setting. I also use Shure in ear monitors with custom molded ear buds whenever possible, with a feed from the PA to let me hear the other instruments. That's the best scenario, but I can't use them everywhere.

I agree that the QSC K series is a great keyboard monitor. I have the K8 and love the sound and response of the speakers at different volume levels. You may also want to check out smaller speakers like the Behringer B205D. I have one of these too and have been using it a fair bit. Obviously it all depends on the venue and whether it is for personal monitoring or for the whole band.
