I understand that these can be converted to other DAWs with a little effort.

Thanks Willem H!
If and when I get this working with PowerTracks, I'll post the file on my website and send a link.

Re: Sonar Cakewalk INS file available
Rreally appreciate the work that went into the instrument definition files for Sonar. I have them working, except for the studio set one. How should that be set? It can't be set onto a Midi channel in Sonar, then it tries to set that channel to a studio set, which just results in that portion of the studio set going to 00.
Any ideas on how to set the Studio Set definition file?

Re: Sonar Cakewalk INS file available
OK, I think I have figured it out. The Studio Set .ins file has to be assigned to Midi channel 16. That seems to work (eg. changing Studio Sets from within Sonar).
However, something REALLY odd happens. When I do this, I always here some drums and a acoustic bass in addition to the studio set. I am pulling my hair out on this. Any ideas?

Hi Husker ,
I think "you're" midi channel 16 is assigned to the drumpads .
I think you're triggering them with midi ........
I hope this will help

Re: Sonar Cakewalk INS file available
I'm really not sure what to do. The only Midi channel I can get the Studio Set to work on is channel 16.
In each of the built in studio sets, that channel is grayed out - I cannot change it. It also plays the drums and bass. I am not sure why.
So, I guess I have two questions:
1) On what Midi channel in Sonar do you assign the studio set instrument .ins file to, and
2) Why is Channel 16 grayed out, unchangeable, and playing bass and drums on every studio set?

Hi Husker ,
This will do the trick , ( I think )
Press the menu button,
Select - studio set common
General tab - pad part select - just turn it off if you don' t use it ( part 1-16/off)
Now part channel 16 lights up and can be used for studio set commands without triggered the pads .

Re: Sonar Cakewalk INS file available
Willem,
After some more testing, your suggestion of removing the part pad select seemed to work. However, I am still very confused on something.
If I do not use Sonar to select the studio sets via the INS file, I do NOT hear the pads at all while playing. However, if I select the studio set via Sonar (and the INS file), I hear the pads unless I specifically turn them off with your suggestion.
Can someone explain why?

Hi Husker ,
Could be you're problem is within sonar ;
echo-ing midi from another midi Channel
( playing on a surtain midi channel while channel 16 is active )
Better send PM
This will become a one to one discussion I think ...

Re: Sonar Cakewalk INS file available
The best place to post any Cakewalk INS File is as pasted inline text on the Cakewalk User Forums.
Someone else has already uploaded a partial INS file for the Juno DS in this thread.

I'd advise merging your file with his so that it includes the drum kits which are currently lacking from that version.
Gary ;)

Re: Sonar Cakewalk INS file available
Dear Willem? A newbie question to you It this script for controlling FA from DAW? What is it for?Willem H wrote:Hi All ,
Hereby the final Instrument Definitions files for the FA-06/08- .
They contain
Studio Sets
Drum Kits + GM2+ All Expansions
Tone + Gm2+ All Expansions .
Because only two Expansions can be installed , you can edit the files according to your needs .
There is a text file included which will guide you through the editing process off the ins file .
I don't had all expansion installed in my FA , so .
If there is a error in the one of the files please let me know .
Or fix it yourself , but please don't be disappointed in me .
I made the files with my best intensions .
Read the read me file in the attachment please .
This will be my contribution to the forum , I hope sonar users will appreciate it .
regards
