I am having a very difficult time trying to figure out how to use the pads on my FA and assigning a drum sound to them from Pigments 3.
I have had the same FA-06 that I bought in mid 2014 and I have had ZERO problems.
I just cant figure out what to do to make it work.
I want to have one sound for each of the 16 pads....
I'm sure it's easy for some to do this but I'm burning tons of time spinning my wheels and not moving at all.....
Thank You
Frank

Re: FA-06 and Arturia Pigments 3
I thought this would be an easy one for the Big Dawgs on the Forum......
Assign drum sounds to 16 pads on the FA-06....
Drum sounds could be from anywhere really...
The ones I like are on Arturia Pigments 3...

Hi,
I have both an FA and Pigments, so will see if I can link them. But before I do some details on your set-up would help?

Great!
Thank you!
I have my Roland FA-06 that goes to a Presonus Audiobox96
I have a 2019 MacBook Pro that I use as my Computer...
I use a Full Version of Reaper as my DAW.
Anything else I will gladly take pictures or answer what you need to know..
Also how do you use the FA as the controller?
It always sounds like I have sounds of the FA coming though when I am using Pigments...
Thank again
Frank

Re: FA-06 and Arturia Pigments 3
Hi again,
Had a play. Managed to get it to work but needs the FA to be in normal mode not DAW control. That may not suit your set up.
You need to load dummy/blank wav files imported into each of the pads, then the pads will trigger a 'note' midi signal to Pigments (or any other programme/plug-in be it drums, tones, FX effects etc.) on channel 16. They can also be played on the keyboard on that channel (or both).

Re: FA-06 and Arturia Pigments 3
Hi again Frankerector,
I enjoy trying to help others. Good to see you have made some progress.
I too am an old man who used to play an organ in my late teens and then life got in the way but on retiring I have the time and enthusiasm at long last to start again. So I too am an old man who had to start from scratch and was completely new to midi. So had a lot to learn and by trial and error have a good practical knowledge.
My advise would be not to run before you can walk and try to really thoroughly understand each bit of soft ware and hardware before getting more. Its amazing what most bits of kit can do if you take the time to explore it. Usually, if it don't work its something small..one wrong setting.
Keep going and have fun.
With the FA, Pigments, Analogue Labs and your DAW you have immense potential. Get to thoroughly understand them all.

Re: FA-06 and Arturia Pigments 3
Thanks for the advice 9blackoranges!
So happy to see an Old Timer like me in here!
I was born in late 59 so You and I saw some pretty cool musical explosions:
Pink Floyd
Punk
Disco
New Wave
Thrash
I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. Well maybe shave 25 years off my life....lol.....Kidding
I will take your advice....
I have narrowed it down though...I have no idea what the factory reset did but I'm gonna try and lay down some tracks tonight on Reaper with it....Kinda New Wave sounding...
I gotta research here on looping so I can do some drum patterns....
If they had a College course for this I'd take it.....lol
Thanks again!
Frank
