Roland FA synth audio through USB not works

Post by iSynth »

Hi!
I bought a 2 moths ago FA-06 and this a great keyboard synth and workstation. I almost completely figured out the device but I still have one issue. Recording audio from FA synth engine via usb does not work in Reaper and Presonus SO but works in Login Pro X only. In Reaper and Presonus SO, my Roland FA is visible but only works as an output audio device. Although I can see the input audio interface of Roland FA, but I can’t get the input audio from it. I repeat once again that this behavior is only in Reaper and in Presonus SO, but in Logic Pro X the USB audio of my Rolanf FA works well in both directions for the output and for the record. Does anyone record sounds from FA directly through USB with Reaper?

I know this post is quite old and I don't know if you found a solution on your end but it may help new users...I use Reaper and was able to configure the the FA-for MIDI IN/Out, Audio IN/OUT as well as DAW control (transport functions, and sound modifying).
However so far the only was I was able to record the audio was to leave the LOCAL ON in the Controller menu (in DAW Control).
Make sure to install the latest drivers for the FA and connect the keyboard to the computer and turn it on before opening Reaper on the computer. The the Reaper Preference Menu
Audio
Device - Select Audio System : ASIO
In the ASIO Driver select the FA06-08 INPUT 1 (first) and 1R (last), OUTPUT 1 (first) and 1R (last)

MIDI
You should see 3 MIDI Drivers
You enable the FA06-08 +control and the FA06-08 DAW CNTRL + control
The FA06-08 CNTRL is not enabled

For the DAW Control
In the preference menu go to the Control/OSC/web section
Select Mackie Universal as a control surface and you should see the FA06-08 DAW CNTRL drivers
From there you can select and automapping of the F1-F8 buttons for the bottom 8 pads on the FA or you can do your own mapping.

So far this is what worked for me.

When you add a track you decide if the input is MIDI or Audio and this is what you will be able to record. to record MIDI the Local is set to OFF but to record the Audio I have had to set it to ON otherwise the sound is not recorded. I have not to tried to record the audio from the input for a mic or guitar yet.

Hope this helps someone...
