Studio sets - newbie question

Post by chrisfp99 »

Hi all.

Considering the FA-06 as a replacement for my aging Korg N364 for live work (yes it's been a while!).

Having had a look at the manuals and searched this site there's one specific question I wonder if someone could answer for me. If I'm playing a studio set and want to switch to another for the next song, I see the manual says I can use the increment/decrement keys, or the dial, to switch. But could I just enter the number of the studio set using the numeric keypad?

If the answer is no here's a follow-up question: if I have a studio set saved as a favourite, will the increment button (or a suitably programmed switch pedal) take me to the next studio set, or the next favourite?

If the answer is no here's another follow-up question: if I have a studio set saved as a favourite and I then press split and dual to enter studio set mode, will the increment button (or a suitably programmed switch pedal) take me to the next studio set, or the next favourite?

The answer to these questions will determine my purchasing decision so would be very grateful to hear from anyone who can supply an answer.

Many thanks.

select PAD MODE = NUMERIC and enter the numbers for your Studio Sets on the pads.

you can use the numeric pads to change studio sets. That's how I do it live. Very easy.

Excellent news. Just what I was hoping.

Thank you.

An even easier method that I use live is to organise the Studio Sets you've made into a bank of Favourites (usually in set-list order) then you just need to press one button to get the sounds for the next song.

Hi guys.

One other (very specific) question to assist in my purchasing decision (I've made a few bad choices over the years).

On p98 of the reference manual it suggests you can set pedal functions at studio set level, rather than globally. There's a list of all the available functions (including studio set up and down).

But on p6 of the parameter guide, while still saying you can set the pedal functions at studio set level, the list of functions is very limited (only 5, not including studio set up and down).

What I'd like to be able to do is set the pedal to studio set up on one studio set, and studio set down on the next one, allowing me to toggle between two studio sets with one pedal.

Could anyone tell me if this is possible.

Very grateful for your expertise.

You can either set the pedals to be controlled at the studio set level or the patch level.. so you cant do what your thinking.. youll need to get 2 pedals and then tell it to use pedals at the studio level.
