Usb and audio

Post by desernauta »

Hallo. I've two questions for you.
Can I use the usb port as an output audio to amplify on the mixer. I have an edirol m16dx with usb audio input. Can I hear the sound of roland by connecting it via usb to the imac?
Thanks to all

You can try it with the edirol. Maybe USB in fits on the protocols and parameter (samplng frequency) and is routed to channel 13/14. I guess it will not work, but I am not very firm with the USB protocols (USB2Host etc.).
Yes, you can hear the FA on your IMac via USB audio.

Did you connect the outs from the Fa to your mixer?

Hi there,

I don't think its possible to hear sound coming out of your iMac if u only use the USB cable.
But i'm no Mac expert, so maybe i'm wrong.
I have my Fa connected to PC via usb and have my audio out connected to my soundsystem. The pc then returns the audio from the DAW via usb to the Fa and via the outs or headphone you can monitor the sound.
Hope this helps,

Miyagi.

you can use USB for audio-over-USB connections. But you need something like a 'decoder' on the Host side, like a DAW programm (or sound-system). You can't hear audio on your Mac in a way compared with the LINE-IN port. It is not analog audio on the USB bus.

Regarding the Edirol: FA and Edirol both have USB-HOST plugs. So it is not possible to connect on thesesports, because there is no appropriate cable for it. You cannot use the USB-DATA port on the FA for audio, it is only for system updates (and to plug in a USB light for the dark stages...).

thanks Benny, since the roland FA does not have digital outputsI would find a way to transform the output USB of Roland in a digital audio output, like the Fantom X so I can use the digital input of my Edirol m16dx. I need ad adapter USB A - RCA :)
