Re: has anyone actually heard the fusion?
same hear, but I won't let that impair my enthusiasm for wanting to see & Play the thing in real life.
Like I said, this is the kinda thing I'd been wanting for a long time, so I'm still very interested.
I doubt I'd get one regardless, but I want to play with one for sure.

Re: has anyone actually heard the fusion?
Predictions based upon previous Alesis products:
The Sampled/ROMpler patches will good sounding, but not as good as either a Fantom X or Motif ES.
The Virtual Analog section will sound awesome.
The FM section will maybe as good as a DX7, but not as good as a DX7mk2 or the FM7 VSTi.
The Physical Modeling section is anybody's guess. It could be great, it could stink on ice.
It's good that Erik Norlander is on the voicing team. He did a great job with the Ion/Micron series, and I imagine he'll do as well with the Fusion. (at least with the VA stuff)
I think the choice to use the Q-Up Arts "Holy Grail" piano was a good business decision ... buy what you can't invent. Even so, it's never been my favorite among sampled pianos ... seeming to be quite "ff heavy" and lacking subtlety for softer passages. That came across in the video demo, IMHO.
The sequencer will be dead-on-easy to operate, and fairly powerful, if Alesis' history is any indication.

DOUBLE POST - SORRY
Re: has anyone actually heard the fusion?
dansgold, what do you think of the Micron? 'Keyboard' (January 2005) gave it the KB award - they loved the Miocrons real-time programming and the 'old-school' grid method reminiscent of 808 and 909. As I resepct your critique skills I would like to hear your view on the Micron.
Re: has anyone actually heard the fusion?
I've come very close to buying an Ion or Micron several times. The sound is beautiful. I'm waiting now for the Fusion to hit the streets. If the VA in the Fusion is as good as the Micron ... that's the direction I'm heading.
If the VA in the Fusion isn't up-to-snuff, I'll be getting a Motif ES Rack and a Micron.

Re: has anyone actually heard the fusion?
Does anyone know anything about the effects section in the Fusion? I see there are 20 Reverbs, 10 Chorus, 50 Insert Effects, 4 Band EQ (low shelf, low, mid, high mid, Hi shelve, but how many simultaneous insert effects?

Re: has anyone actually heard the fusion?
dansgold, how would you rate the Microns VA sounds to the Virus? I am getting more and more excited about this little box, but worry about the 'play quality', do you know anything about the 'feel' of the keys?
Re: has anyone actually heard the fusion?
Sorry to say that I haven't had an awful lot of time to spends with any of the Virus synths. So, my opinion wouldn't be worth much.
Re: has anyone actually heard the fusion?
I'm probably going to end up buying a Micron ... I think that's the nicest thing I can say about it.
I'm waiting to see how well the Fusion stacks up as a VA ... if the VA section in the Fusion is up to par, that's that way I'll go.
If not, I'll be adding a Motif ES Rack + DX7 Card + VL Card + VA Card, and then adding a Micron to that.
Who am I kidding I'll probably buy a ES Rack + Cards AND a Fusion ... I'm just sick like that.

Re: has anyone actually heard the fusion?
I think that the Motif Rack (both classic and ES) only have two PLG slots, I do not know how that will effect your decision but it is defintely worth considering.
Re: has anyone actually heard the fusion?
OK ... I'll just drop the VA card then. I won't really need it if I have the Fusion or Micron anyway.
