Anyone
I bought my X6 yesterday. I am not a keyboard player and I'm very new to this - guitar for 30 yrs. How do I create drum patterns like on a drum machine? you know - you hit 'boom chik' and the machine plays 'boom chik' over and over? then you add the hi-hat and it plays too. IF I can get that far I think I can figure out how to record the drum line.

gtrdude: What does your question have to do with the topic of this thread? Do you think that somehow asking the same thing over-n-over in threads that have nothing to do with your questions is going to help you get an amswer?
You've had your X6 a whole day ... how bout you read the manual first and do a little experimentation on your own before cluttering up this forum with a bunch of off-topic nonsense?

dansgolds posted message from hell has arrived...
gtrdude, this is easy to answer:
press the Rhythm buttom far right, then press one of the unlit Pads far left and you will hear some 'boom chik'.
Press the next Pad and will hear some more 'boom chick'.
Press the Roll Pad and you'll hear plenty of 'boom chick'.
If not happy, go to Manual and learn how to make your own 'boom chick' pattern.
If still not happy, ask dansgold again.

Re: TO PRO TOOLS USERS...JUST BOUGHT IT....WANT TO ASK SOME
I personally like to record everything live into pro-tools. Nowadays I even play all the drums live on my MPC instead of sequencing them (i produce hiphop beats). Of course theres nothing wrong with sequencing... i still use it for certain applications like if something is very fast and i can't play it or something...but usually the only thing i do "sequence like" is puttin pro-tools into grid mode, creatin a scratch drum pattern, creatin the melody and then filling the track out and what-not, then i come back and re-do the drums with a better swing, ya know...pro-tools is cool lol

Re: TO PRO TOOLS USERS...JUST BOUGHT IT....WANT TO ASK SOME
ok...this is the way i do it.....
i start using the sequencer on the fantom.....keep adding tracks till i'm happy --most beats are from 6-11 tracks long....
then i got to pattern mode....and i copy and mix the tracks i want to patterns (normally about 5-8 patterns)---these patterns include intro, verse, corus, ending, etc... i take these patterns then i micro edit them to sound exactly the way i want....
now the the patterns.....i got back to my sequencer and in the last track (16) ...i do step recording/pattern call---and i arrange my patterns on a notepad, so i can see how i want my layout of patterns....then finally put them on that last track 16............
then when i want to hear all of the song...i mute all the tracks execpt for 16...let the song play...if i like what i hear..i open protools....record the song on 1 track...EQ it and i'm done!!!
