Hi
I would like to control som VSTi's from the Jupiter, but need to control the volume of these in real-time
This is what i've tried:
- Using external mode lets me set the initial volume, but can't find a way to assign a knob/controller to an external part.
-Using internal mode lets me assign volume to a controller, but this means I have to dedicate one of the JP's Parts for external use, which is not what I want.
- Route the VST back into the Jupiter via USB-audio, which lets me use the main volume knob, hower I'm also using a m-audio audio interface in my live setup, and it's not possible to use multiple ASIO drivers
- Route the Audio back into the Jupiter via the minijack in, and use the main volume (noise?)
Any suggestions/experiences?

Cs, you are so kind you guilted me into helping.
Best solution is a separate midi controller like the korg nanokontrol mapped to your daw/VST..I use one for simple transport control and ch volume, mute, solo

I had hoped that the OP would have come back and said thanks. However, since they did not, thank you. CS.
Re: Controlling volume of external parts
Well, at the Registration level, the JUP-80 can control External MIDI devices and a few parameters can be send to the External Devices connected:CShorte wrote:Mystic38,Mystic38 wrote:Cs, you are so kind you guilted me into helping.

- MIDI Out Setting (use Internal Part parameters or defined by the External controls below)
- KBD (MIDI Channels that are turned on will be output)
- MSB and LSB (External Bank Select)
- PC (Program change)
- OCT (Part Octave shift)
- Key Lo (Keyboard Range Upper)
- Key Up (Keyboard range Lower)
- Velo lo (Velocity Range Lower)
- Velo Up (Velocity Range Upper)
- External Level
- External PAN
But if that is not enough, you can always use an external MIDI Controller device like the Korg Nanocontrol Mystic38 mentions if that his enough for you (I would rather go for a more powerful device, that includes MIDI Ports too).
Re: Controlling volume of external parts
Hi and thanks for the replies!
Yes I'm aware of that you can set the external midi initial volume for each channel in external mode. I guess what I'm looking for is a way to assign one of the knobs, or an expression pedal to control this volume in realtime
Using an extra midi controller is always a possibility, but was hoping to avoid this.

Re: Controlling volume of external parts
I use the E1 E2 E3 E4 knobs to control the mixer in Omnisphere (or any/multiple params in omnisphere)
Press Shift+Assignable
select Knobs/S1-S2
then I set the knobs to CC16-CC19 Modify 1-4 (depending on how many you want to assign)
Then in the VST I simply right click and select midi cc learn and it picks up whichever knob you move next on the JP-80. Of course you loose the lower upper cutoff etc if you don't re-assign them to something else but I hardly use that in real-time I just tend to use it in making the sound and then snapshot the settings in toneblender.

Re: Controlling volume of external parts
Hmm yes you gave me some Ideas there..I'm using Brainspawn Forte as a VST host so I guess I could program the volume fader to respond to any controller/channel I want.
Thank you very much :-)
