Huh?
<So, you're more interested how 3.5 grand synth looks like than how it sounds?>
Don't play linguistics with me. It's about the materials you're using to build it. Let's face it, the most expensive stuff is not in the guts (although I admit there are synths and workstations whose innards worth a fortune) but in the premium building materials and build quality. If you're too blind or too obtuse to admit it, we have nothing to talk about it.
And yeah, smart guy, I dare you buy a 3500 synth made of cheap mats and with cheap labor.
<It did. But it was only organ that was supernatural. As well as V-Piano only had piano sounds supernatural. Every sound on Jupiter-80 is supposed to be supernatural and that's the catch.>
And because EVERY sound is supernatural it HAS to ressemble an Atelier Organ? Or a Combo? Quite a catch...
<As it's meant for live performers, I don't think it's wrong at all. Especially because you could probably enter effect selection with SHIFT+ON/OFF shortcut and assign, lets say, distortion or delay instead of effect. Afterall, Juno-Stage had such knob next to high/low EQ.>
Excuse me, this is bull. Even the Stage had a LOT of realtime controllers for the effects SECTION, not just one button and a SECTION called "Reverb". It should have been called "Effects". Or maybe it's normal for you to use Reverb and only Reverb. Your call.
Huh?

Roland designs the future, don't forget! In future, ALL effects will be REVERB. You have to accept it! This is our destiny!
BTW you all are trolls. Off to the ban panel...

1) No, because you wouldn't believe me, and 2) you wouldn't be interested in what they were.dboulden wrote:Do tell!hoodedclaw wrote:Artemiy, do you think i should also tell what was made in the Roland US R&D dept during the JP-80's development? But was shelved, because Roland in Japan said no!!

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
I have one Juno Stage with me, could you tell me what realtime controllers it had? S1 and S2 for on/off (it's on Jupiter-80 as well) Reverb for Mic input and... what else? Reverb knob.Excuse me, this is bull. Even the Stage had a LOT of realtime controllers for the effects SECTION, not just one button and a SECTION called "Reverb". It should have been called "Effects". If you check it even further, you'll notice Jupiter-80 also has rotary control effect as well as slow/fast. So, in that specific area it's much more than a Juno Stage. Think about Reverb as a most logical name of "effects" for casual players. They would probably reach for effect control mostly to add some reverb and that's why it's labeled reverb and not effects. And afterall, not sure about Fantom G, but every new Roland FX section is usually based of master FX + chorus + reverb so that reverb might just edit just that part of parameter . But I believe that shift+reverb will bring you to MFX.
@hoodedclaw: Is there any new Juno Stage coming around? Jupiter might be too expensive for me but I would be glad if there's gonna be some cut-down version of Fantom G in a way Juno Stage was of Fantom X :)

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
It appears to be, based on the available information, an overpriced (compared to the Kronos) version of the Fantom G without the sequencer and with better sounds. I am praying for Roland's sake that this has some DEEP synthesis capabilities and that there's the option to expand the control interface, otherwise naming it after the Jupiter is a huge mistake.
Re: Keyboard magazine leak
According to what I worked with, it's synth section is a copy of SH-01, and if we compare it to the Fantom-G or even Fantom-X, it is less powerful, although not by much. 3 tones instead of 4, one LFO per tone instead of two, less LFO shapes (no step LFO). However, the rest is the same, and it's wrapped in a much more user-friendly interface, which should help more people exploit the synth's potential.Undercoverman wrote:I am praying for Roland's sake that this has some DEEP synthesis capabilities and that there's the option to expand the control interface, otherwise naming it after the Jupiter is a huge mistake.
Re: Keyboard magazine leak
Artemiy, is it safe to say it's more close to Nord Stage than Fantom G?
In case you aren't aware of Nord specs, here it is:
• Organ section with faithful emulations of 3 classic models.
• Piano section with 6 selectable categories.
• Synth section generating Subtractive, FM and Wavetable synthesis.
• Effects section adding comprehensive effects to your performance.

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
There is nothing so far on the Jupiter what could be comparable to the Fantom G at all.
Re: Keyboard magazine leak
I also hope that the picture is a fake, because I think it looks terrible, cheap and I would not buy it no matter how good it sounded.
Re: Keyboard magazine leak
with all the rainbow colors, they might has well sell this with black markers so we could make it look more professional than like toy. :D
Re: Keyboard magazine leak
whats with roland making their synths huge lately? They just get bigger in size every new keyboard. Korg managed to fit the Kronos with all its stuff in a pretty decent sized case and its a workstation!, no excuses roland couldnt. They used to be the best at it! wtf happened! This thing better below minds with its sound. Fantom G rack would be bigger and better news. At least for me it would be.
If its really going to be priced over $3000 then most places are not even going to have them on show floors for people to try out...

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
Thanks for the info Artemiy. If the Jupiter 80 has SH-01 capability on board, I would like to see Roland produce a programming module (like a PG-300) to sit on that empty space on the right, so that full tactile control of all parameters is possible. I'm sure some of the controls will be available on the existing panel, but they need to be available. There's a reason lots of old school synths fetch high prices these days - it's not just the sound, it's the simplicity of programming when you have everything available for sound design at your fingertips.
I have no problem with the colouring or the design, I actually quite like it. Roland have succesfully managed to exploit my Jupiter 8 love with this new product. In fact, it's purely my fondness for the original that makes me even halfway interested in this!

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
I agree concerning the design. Obviously, colour-coding has alot to do with sound layering and function. I go for the practical!
