Hey ! I'm the real music newbee. I own the synth since 1 month and 2 days.I was supposed to be THE ONLY TROLL here ! Please go away. I have a real viking name too, I'm French, I supposed to concentrate all A-european hate and I even don't write a world in English without turning it to a total nonsense.
Please hate me///

Come on guys, what about all that... We all have ears and different feeling. Why do you have to argue ?
What the point here...What does experience mean to you ? The right to be right ? The last world conclusion ?

Quit this stupid INTERNET board, just go to the music keyboard again... This is not real life.

Back to the topic :

does anyone know what can be REALLY updated in this Synth ?

- livesets and registrations can be added by anybody, ok
- creating, sharing synth sounds, ok
A website to share this will be nicer. I have read someone here about that idea.
- what about supernatural instruments ? Are SP instrument so easy to update ?
- is there really enough room (or rom) left for new software functions ?

The meaning with this post was (originally), to put some light on the JP80's shortcommings, and get some info about updates promised by Roland.
The problem is that you've failed to do so. In your first post you just compare Roland with and other brands and say that the JP-80 needs to be up to the standards of a... EX5. Sorry, but that really sounds like trolling.
In this period, I have owned (or used) more than 40 different synthesizers/keyboards (analog and digital), so I' not exactly what you would call a "novice" in this department...
I don't measure people as for how many keyboards they use/ own. Still after having so much experience you still think that a synth needs to to be putted up to a "killer" status? How weird is that?

Look, yes, the JP-80 is not perfect. I bet the 40 keyboards you used were also not perfect. It has shortcomings and you and some other users would like to see it improved. That's fine. So if you want to discuss that, tell us what you think because saying that it needs to be improved just because you don't need timpani rolls and trumpet licks doesn't give you much credit.

[quote="trommis"]Suddenly this thread got very quiet.....

The "Jupiter 80" has yet to impress me, but I guess there will be upgrades to bring it up to the standards of the EX5, and even (if we are lucky) the Kurzweil PC3.

You do have a weird concept of "standards". The OB-Xa, CS-80. Jupiter-8, Minimoog are not up to the standards of the EX5 or the PC3 because those analogue synths don't have realistic strings or EPs, right?

You just don't grasp what the JP-80 was designed to do. A synth like the Korg Micro Arranger will suit you better.

Language barrier aside, I'm pretty confused by what you mean by the "standard of the EX5 or PC3". I've got a EX5R, wonderful synth but it hardly compares sonically with Jupiter. Especially the trumpet...sheesh :).

I rest my case...... I never compared the JP80 to any of those analog synthesizers you list in your post.

Nobody said you did. Please re-read the posts above.
English is not my native language too (nor French or German) but you wrote what you wrote. So could you please tell us what you think are the JP-80 shortcomings or you just want us to think you can't express yourself in the best english ?

And an insult like:
"A synth like the Korg Micro Arranger will suit you better." puts you right in the "kindergarden".
(I guess that was not ment as a compliment..)

Maybe my english is difficult to understand for native americans/brittons, but remember: This is not my native tounge, so I try my best. (My spanish/german is mouch worse.)

As we say in norwegian: "Der intet er, har selv keiseren tapt sin rett..."
(Feel free to translate , if you want to know.)
I'm terribly sorry but if the intention was to show JP-80 "shortcomings", I'm afraid this thread shows all but that...

personally i am still struggling on how you define a sales disaster in Norway, which, as a country of 5M people has 75% of the population of Boston, MA.. a city where you will also not find the JP80 in stock.
