Star Wars Books

Post by drfreejon »

I consider my self somewhat of a Star Wars freak (i saw Empire in the theatre in junior high) but I never read any of the books.

I just started a job in NY city with a wonderful 25 min bus ride giving me a lot of reading time (just finished DaVinci Code).
Can someone recommend a good starting point for someone thats never read a SW book.

I'd start with the Thrawn trilogy, then read both dark empire graphic novels.
You could then read the jedi academy trilogy.

All three sets chronicle the mopping up the the alliance has to do after the battle of endor. Also is Luke's quest to begin training the hundreds of force-sensitive beings to be jedi, starting with his sister and her 3 children.

There are hundreds of non-canon books out there.
These 3 sets are just a start.
Rumor has it that the thrawn trilogy will be a mini-series on cable with the original cast, but it's still just a rumor at this point.

Amazon has most of them.

Thrawn trilogy:

Dark Empire:

drfreejon,

I'm curious.... what did you make of the Da vinci code? I read it a few months back.

I liked it. I've heard a few people say it was slow. I thought it was a page turner.
I generally don't read books like that but I found it exciting.

My main reason for reading it is that I heard the movie was coming out and I wanted to be one of those people that said that the book was better.
