Hi, I've been asked to work on a piece that is outside of what I normally do and I need a bit of advice as to where to go with it. I need to create (find / locate) a particular drum sound. It is used during the soundtrack to Blade Trinity in some parts and I can only describe it as sounding like a drum that is distorted, has a metallic ring to it and perhaps heavily eq'd ? It is pitched so it almost like a bass instrument by itself but isn't ! I do heavy rock and my drums sound like drums, I'mnot sure if this is classed as techno or not ? I also think simlar sounding drums were used inteh Resident Evil soundtrack. Sorry O can't be muchmore specific but can anyone help out from what i have described ?
Thanks as always

Kind of off topic advice please !

Try the Roland SRX World...
Seriously -- there are some pretty clangorous drum hits, in particular, in the "Asia kit" and "Africa kit" and so on. The kind of drum that you describe sounds, in my mind, exactly like a particular metallic/snare-like/rattle kind of sound that I once had on my old MC80.
If you have a VE-GS Pro card, or if you have an old Sound Canvas (probably the Pro 88) then you can probably find that sound pretty easily. Good luck.
