All in all, it comes down to simplistic reasoning. Will the rig I decide to invest my money into, do what I want it to do? Will it be a steep learning curve on areas that might be included that I am not as sure about the operational aspects of? Will I be able to get help on important issues from the manufacturer or retailer I bought it from? Will a majority of the features in it ever be used to their full potential? Do I need every gadget, or knob on it to play music?
I deliberately to this point have avoided the area of type of music I might want to use my X6 for, for a specific reason. That is ... In my opinion the X series sounds ....for the most part are geared more towards techno or Electronic genre...by % of the patches internal out of the box. That is not my style of music, and do not see it becomming so in any time in the next 30 years.
Is my X6 beyond me? In some ways YES!!!! Will it stay that way? NO!!!!
I am a professional musician with over 30 years on stages all across the USA. Played with some fellow musicians that were some of the best that I will ever hear i'm sure. I have backed up many artists in local shows throughout my career. I even was lucky enough to be asked to go to Nashville to play, rather than going there thinking I was some HOT STUFF keyboardist, like many I saw there out of work, that might very well have been considered to be better than me talent wise. All that said....I'm simply a guy that loves to play MUSIC, and now is getting into learning the Sequencing thing for either my own personal useage, or potential professional useage.
My hat is off and I give a courtesy bow to Artemio for creating this forum for us. I have learned alot about my X6 that was never in the manual or even referenced. I learn more everyday, and hope that I might someday be able to help out more fellow musicians in the world, thanks to the internet, I feel good about passing on good advice that might help someone, the same way this and other forums have helped me, as well as human good ole face to face conversations over equipment and the industry have in my life.
