Who of you doesn't watch TV?

Post by Artemiy »

Hello all ;-)

I wonder, are there people here who doesn't watch TV?

I must say I haven't watched the TV for almost five years. One of the main reasons is that I get freaking irritated by the overwhelming amount of ads they roll there. The other thing is that I get all the news and entertainment I need from the web, including videos as well, and I can read/watch them whenever I have time and will. There are ads here too, but at least they are easy to avoid.

A few years ago, I went on a canoe trip and didn't watch TV for about a week. I was so stressed out that I went to the store, bought a steak, went home and cooked it, and watched TV while eating my steak.

I eat vegetarian (20+ years) and watch very little TV.

dalematt,
Sounds like you need a bit of stress management rehab!

I don't have cable. The only way I watch TV shows is through a netflix account. ie. No commercials. Even then I ration it pretty lightly.

OK! OK! I'll admit that Bernice and I frequently enjoy watching programs about the 'vegetarian' lifestyle on 'The Food Network'! (on our 46" Sony LCD flatscreen)

Sadly, NetFlix has very few 'vegetarian friendly' movies! Scooby and Shaggy were 'veggies' in The Scooby-Doo Movie!

And if you're 'into' horror flicks, that can be a real dilemma! I mean . . . what do vegetarian zombies eat?!! Can you imagine? "EWWWHH!! GROSS!! THEY'RE GOING TO EAT ALL OF THE BRUSSELS SPROUTS!!!" I don't know about you, but I personally find meat-eating zombies to be a little scarier. Anywho . . . What was the question again?

I'd watch some television if Roland made it possible right at my Fantom G screen. =)

I watch sport and news and Harry Hill (UK relevant reference). TV is fine - you just got to pick the best bits IMO. I try to avoid anything that has a panel of judges (one of who might be nasty...), so i retire to my Machinedrum and Monomachine whilst my nearest and dearest watch that crap. I pay Sky £70 a month and the only thing i would really miss is cricket. The credit cruch and an imminent No.2 child will soon put pay to that though.

I tend to watch TV as a last resort preferring something more interactive....computer games, playng keyboard, girlfriend erm...

I've been taping everything I'd like to watch for years now.
Generally, tape it > watch it > delete it.

I don't usually have much free time until late in the evening when I'm already tired, so I'd rather have a few documentaries or comedies to watch then, instead of slumping in front of whatever garbage is on. Agreed with HiveHead on avoiding anything with a panel of judges, too.

Harry Hill's TV Burp is fab. But where is Stouffer?
