Fantom X vs. Triton Sequencing

what sequencer is the fastest and easiest to operate? i am not looking for sophistication, only for speed.

I don't know the Triton but if you consider a "press REC - start playing" fast, then the Fantom is for you.

fixthemix, if you don't know the triton then how can you compare it to the fantom?

seriously, i just wonder how much faster the touchscreen is enabling you to edit your sequences, if so.

please only reply if you have worked with both workstations in arranging and editing songs.

I used to have a Triton and now use a Fantom X7. I prefer the Fantom, it has less complicated menu structures, it works faster for me.

I haven't used a triton really, but I've used an MPC2000XL, an ASR-X, a Korg Trinity, the fantom, Reason, Pro Tools, an MP-7, and various chinzy PC programs.

I like the fantom sequencer better than the MPC. I like it better than the ASR-X or the MP-7. I like Reason's sequencer better than the fantom. the fantom beats the living shit out of a Trinity.

My opinion is that it's one of the best HW sequencers out there and the only thing beating it is computer programs that can't even begin to offer the same fidelity.

so the fantom's sequencing is faster? from my experience with the v-synth's touchscreen i would have thought that this feature would give the triton an advantage.

when i tried the fantom it was really weird that i had to use the buttons, that seemed more complicated. but you guys say that the stucture of the fantom's sequencer is better?

Yep. The Fantom's interface and sequencer were one of the main reasons I purchased my X6 a year ago. The sound quality also played a major part.

I spent a couple of months going through the process of comparing the 'Big 3', Motif/Fantom/Triton Extreme. My first choice (by reading and hype only) was the Triton. After spending time at the local music shop playing and comparing, that quickly changed.

The touch screen really didn't factor much in my decision. Just how much time would I save (a few seconds, maybe) and would that matter to me at all in creating my music? Nope!

I find navigation on the Fantom's sequencing section to be quite nice. A few button presses don't change my musical world.

I have a Fantom S88 and a Korg Triton Studio 88. Although both can get pretty efficient after you get used to them, I mainly like the Triton better because it easier to do multitrack pattrns and chain them together. Also I find assigning effects to be easier. The touchscreen also makes a small difference.

As well, the Triton can hold a bunch of songs in memory at once, instead of just one. Andl, the Triton doesn't care where you store your sequences - they can be in any folder.

But having said that, they're both very good workstation sequencers.

My roommate has a Triton, so essentially I've had one in my house for a good four months.... I NEVER figured out how to use it, even with my roommates instruction.

A week after I bought my Fantom Xa (and the Xa is actually marginally more complicated to operate than than the X6-7-8), I was sampling, sequencing, and making songs.

Mind you I spent more time with the Fantom, but the fact is that whenever I said down with the triton I just found myself confused & overwhelmed, and it put me right off... the Fantom was very inviting and intuitive.... it didn't scare me off like the Triton did.

I had a TRITON and to be hons i found it a lot easier to use.
If i could afford it I would have another one as well as my x6.
