Ok ok this should be the last question dd=
All my live i played with 1 keyboard + 1 Amp only , but now since im buying a fantom x i want to take it to a more pro lvl, so i'm giving up the amp and planning to use a pa system.
But i'm in trouble figuring out everything d= So if anyone can clarify some things for me...
I'm low on budget after buying the Fx and a gator case for it so for now i'd stick with a cheap Mixer like the Behringer 1204fx pro. I can upgrade it later... My set will be made by the Fx8 and a Triton Classic. So i'm guessing that the best way to set this up is using Balanced Cables (P10 cables right?) out of L and R outputs of the FX and plug them into 2 channels (say 1 and 2) of the mixer (or to a stereo channel like 5/6 or 7/8). The pan left / right the channels. Then same thing for the Triton (Even tho i'm not sure if the Triton output's are balanced). All right until this point? (The mixer channels seem to be balanced as far as i understood).
Ok from now on my confusion starts... I need to send the mixer outputs to some kind of monitor for the stage and for the house's PA. Do i need more balanced cables here too? XLR cables for the house's mixer? (right now i have a Peavey KbA 60. i'm using as monitor, since all i used to do was get a mono unbalanced cable from the mono ouput to the amp input) but i want to change for a stereo setup with active monitors. A lot of people say that using balanced cables isn't worth it cos pa's arent stereo in most of the houses, but i still think it'd a better idea to do it stereo right?
Think what made me lose it is the fact that the sound is going out of my mixer and then it'll have to enter the house's big mixer (with the guitar mics, the voices, drum mics etc for place's pa) So i'm having trouble figuring out how to keep the best sound scenario in this case.
Id be very thankfull if someone can post a walkthrough about where to go from here ... getting signals out of the mixer.
Thanks a ton in advance ((=
Yeah i'm a newbee , but the questions are for a good reason hehehe My audience will thank you guys too d;

Re: Connection for gigs
You are spot on with connecting your keyboards to the mixer. You have 2 sets of outputs... main outs and control room outs. Use one set to feed your active monitors and send the other set to FOH.

Hheheh u're turning into my hero dboulden d= Thanks for the endless patience d;
But to keep the sound quality, do i need to use balanced cables on the mixer's outputs too or it's ok to use normal ones here ... or stick to XLR cables (even tho not sure the place's mixer has enough free XLR slots free after plugging the all the mics in.). That'd be 4 more cables out of the mixer... right ? *signs down his bankruptcy term d=*
And just out of sheer curiosity , what does FOH stand for? (yeah curse us non english speakers heheh d=)

Re: Connection for gigs
FOH = Front of House i.e. what the audience hears via the main speakers.
If you are using a house PA, just send all the outputs to the PA and bring back a monitor signal for the local stage monitoring. You don't need another mixer. If you want to save cables, put the Triton's audio output into the X8 audio mix in and send everything through the X8 outputs (although you will lose the stero split on the Triton but still have all the signal)
My band use a Behringer 1204fx pro on occasions for practice and smaller gigs - good mixer. Depends on how many other inputs you are using for mics etc. but you can use 4 balanced XLRs for the 2 keyboards in (stereo jack to XLR adaptors at the keyboard end) and bring out 2 monitor lines to stage monitors. I wouldn't worry about stereo for the monitoring, it's hard to tell the difference and if you have guitarists in the band you can't hear much anyway (unless you hog a monitor to yourself!)

Re: Connection for gigs
May people do indeed moitor in mono, but persoanlly I much preferr to monitor in stereo... I can certainly notice a big difference between the two... and I play behind 2 guitarists and abass player (with a large Trace Elliot amp).
I still think using your own sub-mixer on stage is a good idea, as you'll only need to send two cables (or one if they only want mono) to the FOH PA. The reason I preferr to use my own monitoring is that you can set the level as you play without having to get the FOH engineer's attention and start making ridiculous looking hand signals to turn your monitor up or down ;o)
We now also use "in-ear" monitoring instead of floor wedges to hear vocals... it makes the sound on stage much clearer... though I still hear my keyboards thru my pair of wedges pointing up towards me.
As far as the cables you use to connect to FOH... it depends on the outputs of your mixer... if they are unblanaced, then you'll only need a pair of unbalanced leads... if you have balanced outputs, then I'd recommend carrying a pair of both types. You should only need to use jack-to-jack cables... don't bother with XLR cables as these almost only ever used for mics onstage.

Re: Connection for gigs
Thanks for the answer again ((=
Just bought my fantom x today and a behringer 1204fx and some balanced cables and even 2 XLRs cos the mixer has 2 XLR outputs so i might use those. Sometimes i use a direct box on stage and as far as i recall those are XLR connections as well so prolly the bar's mixer should have some spare XLR inputs i could use.
The reason i wanted my own mixer is exactly the same u mentioned Dave hehehe Too tired of making hand gestures asking for volume or for a bit more/less low/mid/treb equalization... this way i can try and fix easily any part of the sound that doesnt please me.
Happy as hell trying my fantom hehehe the OS was 2.0 so think im good now. But think ill have a long nice talk with mr fantom x's manual tomorrow d=
Thanks for the great help!
