USB trouble!! "it appears that...blabla"

Post by tidy »

i have a little problem with my fantom X7.
I've connected it with USB, and installed the driver, and the fantom X editor. but i get this message when i open fantom x-editor: "it appears that your fantom-x is unconnected or connected incorrectly. please check the connections"

* i have set the fantom to MIDI mode in USB.
* i have connected it, in 1000 different ways. nothing works.
* i have set the midi settings to fantom x, output: SB audigy SW Synth [FFEO], device ID 17, just like on the fantom.

what is quite weird, is that i can use the MIDI functionality on the fantom, that means that i can use it as a MIDI synth in Reason, VSTi's, Cubase and so on, and i get one kind of midi piano sound, when i play in fantom X editor. when i open the "keyboard" button in fantom x editor it recognizes if i am playing, but all the other buttons don't work, it just show the stupid message. i need heeeelp :(
or else im going to throw my PC out of the window. :P
this is so irritating.

hope someone have a solution to this :)

This is a shot in the dark, but it helped me. You have to have matching versions of Fantom OS and Editor and Librarian. In other words, if you have upgraded your Fantom to 2.0, then you need the newer editor and librarian. Old ones will give you the message you're mentioning.

Good luck.

Well I do have the same problem !

And OS 2.0

My Fantom X software editor is 1.5 and I don't know if it matters.

Yes, it matters. Quoting myself: "You have to have matching versions of Fantom OS and Editor and Librarian."

Thanks !

The soft was packed with my brand new FX7 with OS 2 already installed. Well apparently Roland Europe forgot to change the CD.
