I don't do a lot of live work, but during tourist season, I play once a week at a dining room - quiet dinner music. I've had no problem with the FS, just the guy who plays it - lol.

I use my FS61 live all the time and highly recommend it. I use the favorites for most of my sets and set up loops and triggers sounds on the pads. Very reliable as long as you lock your SRX cards in like they should be. I made that mistake and spent a whole set wondering why my board wouldn't work only to realise that the sound I was on relied on my SRX card and the card had fallen out of the slot during transport.

That was just my stupid fault not the board. Goodluck, many of us use the boards live.

Have been using my Fantom X8 for Live gigs since November 2004, absolutely superb, no problems, but i would recommend using Balanced cables or so my sound engineer says, something to do with the levels on my mixing desk..

i use it onstage and have it in Stereo, the sound is incredible..
i do gigs 3 to 4 times a week pretty much, audiences from 500 - 2000 sometimes, got a gig soon in front of 20,000, cant wait!

Laters...

I play several times a week with a Fantom S 61...very reliable so far. I really like making program changes wigh those huge pads. If you gig...make sure you get a hard case! The knobs and keys stick out...I guarantee an accident will happen eventually if you don't.

Gig every weekend with a FA76 and a Fantom X6. No problems here, except once the FA76 froze and would not release the notes I played - at that point I wished the thing had a Panic button somewhere. A reset fixed it. No problems whatsoever with the FX6, though.

Mrc pro - Fortunatly, i ordered with the Fantom a hard case, with the application of rehersals and live sets I believe a hard case is essential.

Mexico - No good to hear it froze, given that it has happend once, I guess no need to worry, how long since the freeze occured?

Interested to know the types of music you guys perform, band setting? Tech stuff? hip-hop?

Do you stay in performance Layer/split, favorites ?.

Band for me. R&B cover band right now and some little trio work with jazz/funk work. I write and had/have an original band called The 9's from Omaha, NE. The only current reminents of The 9's are here...

Soon to release a new album though... probably late summer.
We had two board players. I played with a Multimoog and Xp-80 and the other guy played VK-7 w/ Leslie and a Fender Rhodes 73 (he is a monster player as was the other members). Fun fun.

Freeze-up was not fun. It appeared to me that I choked the poor thing by playing a series of chords without releasing the hold pedal... :S

Type of music: New Age Mariachi. J/K :P I play in a Country band. Setup:

-Toshiba Portege 3505 Tablet PC running Sonar 4 (MIDI only, no audio, no soft synths).

-Fantom X6 connected to the Tablet PC via USB MIDI. Fantom X6 runs all the time in Performance mode, and all Performances are organized in Live Setting Play by song, alphabetically. FX6 sends Program Changes to FA76 through Channel 16. This way, when I select a Performance, FX6 changes the FA76 to the desired Performance.

-FA76 connected to the FX6 through standard MIDI. No direct connection of the FA76 to the Tablet PC. FA76 with Country expansion card (awesome pedal steels, mandolins, banjos, resonator guitars, etc.). FA76 always runs in Performance mode.

-Little 5-channel Berhinger mixer for monitoring purposes.

That's it!

You can see some of the gear here:

Peace!

Nice, so many fantomizers in Nebraska. I'll be one of them in May... I live in Omaha.

See you either Thursday or Friday, Mexico.
